Sonakshi Sinha to make her Telugu debut in supernatural fantasy thriller Jatadhara alongside Sudheer Babu: Sources

Sonakshi Sinha, who has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood with her diverse roles, is now gearing up to step into Telugu cinema. If reports are to be believed, the actress has been roped in as the leading lady in Jatadhara, a supernatural fantasy thriller directed by Venkat Kalyan and starring Sudheer Babu in the lead.

While an official confirmation is awaited, sources close to the actress has suggested that Sonakshi will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar, sharing screen space with Sudheer Babu. Further speaking about the same, sources also revealed that she is set to begin shooting for the film this month, on March 8.

Jatadhara has already created a stir following its grand muhurat in Hyderabad which was held month. The anticipation among fans was soaring when the makers unveiled the first look of the film in August last year and adding to the intrigue were mystic elements like the Trishul and Lord Shiva set against the backdrop.

Allu Arjun to replace Salman Khan in Atlee film: Report

Allu Arjun, who is riding high on the success of Pushpa 2, has been focusing on his other projects in the pipeline. Meanwhile, it seems that the pan-India superstar is expected to have bagged another major film with none other than Jawan filmmaker Atlee. While certain reports have claimed that the filmmaker was planning on joining hands with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, it seems that there has been a change in the cast.

According to Peeping Moon reports, it is being said that Allu Arjun has replaced Salman Khan film after Atlee faced a few hurdles. The report has asserted that the Telugu superstar has given a nod to the film, but the formalities are being worked out. “Although the paperwork is still pending, the Pushpa 2 star has principally greenlighted the project and will most likely commence working on it as his immediate next. Shooting timelines and other logistical aspects are being worked out, but Atlee is looking to kick off pre-production by April-May,” the source was quoted saying.

Sun Pictures is expected to fund the project that is said to be a big budget two hero film. Along with Allu Arjun, the rest of the actors including the leading ladies are yet to be finalized. While reports suggest that Janhvi Kapoor is one of the frontrunners for the film, there has been no official confirmation. Reacting to the news about this major change in cast where Allu Arjun reportedly replaced Salman Khan, Atlee’s spokesperson said, “Honestly I have no clue… its everywhere”.

Meanwhile, Atlee recently produced the action extravaganza in Bollywood, titled Baby John starring Varun Dhawan in the lead. However, the filmmaker has maintained silence regarding his upcoming projects. On the other hand, Allu Arjun too is expected to have a few untitled projects in the pipeline.

In November last year, Excel Entertainment issued a statement addressing the delay rumors. It clarified, “The makers and Ranveer Singh are on the same page that the timelines of Don 3 remain unchanged. Any such news of postponement is not true. With the timelines firmly in place, the mandates for Don 3 remain ambitious — delivering a cinematic spectacle that lives up to the franchise’s legacy while setting new benchmarks.”

In 2023, a special announcement video introduced Ranveer Singh as the new face of the Don franchise. He also shared a childhood picture of himself reenacting the iconic character at home. Expressing his gratitude, he wrote, “I understand what a great responsibility it is to be a part of the Don dynasty. I hope the audience gives me a chance and showers me with love, the way they have for numerous characters over the past so many years.” Kiara Advani will star alongside him in the lead role.

Ranveer Singh was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, which premiered during Diwali last year. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is preparing for the release of his next production, Superboys of Malegaon. Starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan, the film is set to hit theatres on February 28.

Zoya Akhtar expresses disappointment over Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, and other newcomers being ‘bullied’; says, “The audience is harsh with certain newcomers”

Zoya Akhtar provided a launchpad for a series of star kids like Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda in The Archies. While they made their debut on OTT platform Netflix, the film received mixed reactions across as many trolled the newbies for their acting skills. Addressing the matter, the filmmaker insisted that some of them even faced bullying and revealed that she felt guilty because at the end, they were only following her instructions.

In the recent podcast with Komal Nahta, Zoya Akhtar opened up about directing almost six newcomers in her teenage drama The Archies and also responded to the kind of reactions the film received. “They all are very talented, and I would love to work with them again. What I felt terrible about was that they were newcomers. I auditioned them. We gave them the roles. A very professional crew dressed them. There were all the best names in the business involved. I workshopped with them. I okayed the take, so it was me. They just did what I asked them to do. I didn’t like the fact that they were being almost bullied. It wasn’t nice, it was all my responsibility, so I did feel guilty, but then they asked me not to,” she told.

She went on to add, “The audience is harsh with certain newcomers, not with all of them. I felt bad when this happened. If the audience didn’t like it, it was on me and not them. They all are very talented, and people will see that with time.”

For the unversed, Suhana Khan is the daughter of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, Agastya Nanda is the grandson of legendary star Amitabh Bachchan and yesteryear actress Jaya Bachchan, whereas Khushi Kapoor is the daughter of late superstar Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor.

Chhaava Box Office: Vicky Kaushal starrer has an unbelievable jump on Saturday

Chhaava has stepped into an altogether different league now. The film was as it is huge on Friday when Rs. 24.03 crores had come in. Not just it had done bigger business than Thursday, it had also maintained its Rs. 20 crores+ streak intact. No wonder, it was a given that the film will step into the 30s on Saturday and then 40s on Sunday. After all, it’s an accepted film and hence big bucks were surely on the way.

What has happened though on Saturday is unbelievable and something that has never happened for a film of this scale and size. The film ended up growing spectacularly well, what with the collections jumping by more than 80% on Saturday. Yes, you read it right. The growth was more than 100% and as a result it’s not the 30s that has been captured by the film, it’s a straight up 40+ for the film, what with Rs. 44.10 crores coming in.

What Vicky Kaushal starrer has done on its second Saturday is truly remarkable. Going by the trend, anything can happen today and even Rs. 50 crores doesn’t seem impossible today. Chhaava currently stands at Rs. 293.41 crores and Rs. 300 Crore Club milestone will be achieved today in just 10 days.

Kamal Haasan announced as Chairman of FICCI Media and Entertainment

The Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with legendary actor-filmmaker Shri Kamal Haasan, inaugurated the two-day media and entertainment conclave called FICCI MEBC South, in Chennai today. Along with that, Haasan was also announced as the Chairman of FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee, South.

This world-class facility will include advanced post-production studios, virtual production technologies, animation and VFX studios, LED walls, and even a 5-star hotel for industry professionals,” Mr. Stalin said.

Speaking of the event, the two-day conclave will feature a dynamic blend of knowledge sessions, masterclasses, workshops, content markets, and exhibitions, exploring critical aspects of India’s evolving media and entertainment landscape. Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava declared tax-free in Goa

The Goa government has declared the Hindi film Chhaava tax-free in the state. The biopic, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, hit theaters on February 14.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on X that Chhaava is tax-free in the state, stating that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice is an inspiration for people.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant announced on X, “It gives pleasure to me to announce that movie Chhaava based on the life & sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be Tax Free in Goa.”

He added, “The Movie exploring the valor, courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for Dev, Desh and Dharma played by Vicky Kaushal, is bringing the glorious history to the screen. The sacrifice of the second Chhatrapati of the Hindavi Swarajya, who valiantly fought against Moghuls, the Portuguese is an inspiration for all of us.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also declared Chhaava tax-free in the state on Wednesday. The announcements from both states coincided with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire and father of Chhatrapati Sambhaji.

Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. Based on Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava, the film has received positive reviews from both audiences and critics. It is on track to become the first Bollywood film of 2025 to cross the ₹200-crore mark and has surpassed Sky Force (₹112 crore) to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
