Imran Khan recalls drinking vodka with Ranbir Kapoor while hosting awards: “It helped us keep our nerves in check”

Actor Imran Khan, who has been away from Bollywood for several years, recently shared an anecdote about his experience of hosting an awards show with Ranbir Kapoor. In a podcast interview, Imran admitted that the event was stressful for him, especially since he was still new to the industry and had to perform in front of seasoned actors like Amitabh Bachchan. To deal with the pressure, he and Ranbir relied on an unexpected coping mechanism—sipping expensive vodka backstage.

Speaking on the Moments of Silence podcast, Imran Khan reflected on how nerve-wracking it was to host the awards night. “Honestly, the awards night was quite stressful because I was less than a year in the industry and knew that people like Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan would be in the front row. It was very scary,” he shared. He recalled how Ranbir Kapoor stepped in with an unconventional solution, saying, “After the dress rehearsal, Ranbir showed up with expensive vodka. Every time we were off the stage, we had a few sips before getting back on to continue with the show. It helped us keep our nerves in check.”

Imran Khan’s Bollywood Journey and Hiatus

Imran Khan made his Bollywood debut in 2008 with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, which quickly established him as a heartthrob. He enjoyed a successful career with films like Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, I Hate Luv Storys, and Break Ke Baad. However, after his last release, Katti Batti in 2015, he stepped away from acting and disappeared from the public eye.

Speculations About Imran Khan’s Comeback

Recently, Imran has expressed a desire to return to films, sparking excitement among fans. Reports suggest that he might reunite with director Danish Aslam, who previously worked with him on Break Ke Baad. While Aslam has confirmed that a project is in the works, he has remained tight-lipped about further details. “It’s still a work-in-progress. When things are finalised, I’ll be happy to talk about it,” he said in an earlier interview with Mid-day.
