Akshay Kumar offers prayers at Mata Vaishno Devi ahead of Welcome To The Jungle release

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar recently visited the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, where he offered prayers and sought blessings ahead of the Welcome To The Jungle release. The actor’s spiritual visit took place on June 18 and has since attracted attention online, with videos and photographs from the shrine circulating widely on social media.

Akshay was seen interacting with devotees and acknowledging fans during his visit to the holy shrine located in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district.

Akshay Kumar arrives in Katra for darshan

The actor arrived in Katra, the base camp for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, before proceeding to the shrine. He travelled from Jammu to the Panchhi helipad via a special helicopter and was received by representatives of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and local authorities.

Following his arrival, Akshay headed towards the shrine in a battery-powered vehicle. Security arrangements were reportedly in place throughout the visit as devotees and local residents gathered along the route in the hope of catching a glimpse of the actor.

Several fans were also seen attempting to take photographs and selfies as Akshay made his way towards the temple premises.

During his visit, the actor offered prayers to Mata Vaishno Devi and spent time at the shrine seeking blessings. Priests at the temple later presented him with the sacred chunri, a traditional offering associated with the goddess.

After offering prayers at the main shrine, Akshay Kumar travelled to Bhairav Valley through the cable ropeway system and paid his respects at the Bhairavnath Temple. The actor reportedly spent some time at the temple before returning to Jammu by helicopter around noon.

As mentioned above, Akshay Kumar’s visit comes ahead of the release of his upcoming film, Welcome To The Jungle, scheduled for June 26, 2026.

Set against the backdrop of the Bombay High Court and a pesticide cylinder placed inside a witness box, the imagery hints at a gripping courtroom battle centered on the alarming issue of food adulteration.

Directed by Chettan DK and written and produced by Sagar B Shinde, the film is slated for a theatrical release on 24th July 2026. The India Story is all set to release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages as a worldwide release by Zee Studios.

Sunny Leone on her global DJ Tour, “Acting will always be my first passion”

Actor and entertainer Sunny Leone is currently touring internationally as a DJ, performing across India, Thailand, Canada, and several other territories as part of her ongoing 2026 DJ World Tour. The tour, which launched in April 2026, combines Bollywood remixes, techno rhythms, and Indo-Western fusion sets in a concert-style format.

Speaking about her dual career in acting and music, Leone said, “Acting is my first passion, and everything else I do is just icing on the cake.”

She noted that projects such as Kennedy have opened unexpected international opportunities, but that acting remains her primary identity, with DJing representing another chapter in her career.

Reflecting on her past tour stops, Leone described Indian audiences as among her most memorable. “Whenever I’m in India, I think that’s the most fun that I have because people are just so passionate and so much fun,” she said.

The tour has already covered Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Pattaya, and Vancouver, where Leone described the turnout as “unbelievable” with wall-to-wall crowds.

The international leg continues with a live Bollywood DJ set at Egg London on June 26, 2026, followed by a headline performance at La Nuit Club in Paris on June 27, 2026, hosted by NSD Events.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana paid a heartfelt tribute to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali on the occasion of his birthday, celebrating both the director and his recent release Main Vaapas Aaunga. The actor took to social media to share a video of himself singing a cover version of the film’s song ‘Tere Paas Mein’, impressing fans and industry colleagues alike with his soulful rendition.

Alongside the video, Ayushmann penned an emotional note praising Imtiaz Ali’s storytelling and the impact the film had on him. He wrote, “Happy birthday @imtiazaliofficial sir. Kala Hiran controversy deepens: Sonu Mishra talks about exiting the film based on Salman Khan blackbuck case; says ‘I didn’t want to be a part of such a film’

The controversy surrounding Kala Hiran: Battle of Legacy continues to intensify. The film, produced by Amit Jani and reportedly inspired by publicly available information related to the ongoing blackbuck case involving Salman Khan, has been making headlines ever since its first look was unveiled. The poster drew significant attention due to actor Sonu Mishra’s appearance, which closely resembled the Bollywood superstar.

Amid the legal dispute initiated by Salman Khan and his team, the film has witnessed multiple members speaking about the negative narrative and some even claimed to be misled by the producer. The latest one to talk about it was lead actor Sonu Mishra, publicly opened up about his departure. Addressing the media during a recent press conference, Mishra revealed that he was initially approached for the film but was never handed over an official agreement for the film and hence, he decided to walk away after developing concerns about the project’s portrayal of Salman Khan.

Speaking about his decision, Sonu Mishra said, “I was so much excited because I was supposed to play the role of superstar Salman Khan. I had also started the shooting of the film. But when the intent is negative, being an actor, I don’t want to be a part of such a film. No doubt that they have a point of view. But you are showing superstar Salman Khan in a negative way and showing a one-sided narrative.”

The actor further claimed that he sought clarity regarding the script and contractual terms before deciding to step away from the project. “I left because I had not signed the agreement. We shot for two days, and I asked them for the agreement and script because they were making a one-sided narrative story against a superstar. So, they understood I was not going to fall into their trap. I asked for the agreement to know what all clauses are there in it. After a long time, they showed me things, and it was revealed that I had to speak negatively against the star in the media. So, all these things were against my ethics”, he added.

The development comes at a time when Salman Khan and his legal team have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a ban on the film and its promotional material. The petition reportedly argues that the project violates the actor’s personality rights and is based on an ongoing legal matter that is under sub judice.  The Delhi High Court has taken note of the matter and issued a notice to the makers of the film. The next hearing in the case is scheduled to take place on June 19.

With legal scrutiny increasing and key members distancing themselves from the project, the future of Kala Hiran: Battle of Legacy remains uncertain.

Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga continues to garner appreciation from audiences and members of the film fraternity alike. The latest celebrity to express admiration for the film is author and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, who took to social media to share a heartfelt note after watching the recently released romantic drama.

Headlined by Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, Main Vaapas Aaunga explores themes of love, longing, memory, and displacement against the backdrop of Partition-era migration. Since its theatrical release on June 12, the film has generated conversations for its emotional narrative and performances.

Your poetry, the stammer and accent had me in awe. What a star! Vedang Raina, you were amazing. From love to pain and longing, it was lovely. Diljit you brought everyone together and thank you for that,” she shared.

The filmmaker also highlighted the contribution of composer A.R. Rahman, crediting his music for enhancing the emotional depth of the narrative. She went on to add, “@arrahman you were the soul of the film! Your music was stirring emotions and how. Love, youth, romance, longing all rolled into a volcano of feelings. @dollyahluwalia your scene left an indelible mark props to the entire cast and crew.” Concluding her review, Tahira encouraged audiences to experience the film in theatres, and said, “Pls go watch and gift yourself a classic love story that you will always remember,” she wrote.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Box Office: Varun Dhawan starrer records good growth on second Saturday; eyes Rs. 60 crore-plus lifetime

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has shown encouraging momentum at the box office in its second weekend. After holding reasonably well through the weekdays, the film witnessed a significant jump of around 40-50% on its second Saturday, indicating that audience interest remains intact despite new competition.

One of the standout performers was Mysore, which registered an impressive growth of nearly 80% over the previous day. Meanwhile, key circuits such as Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi continued to emerge as the film’s strongest contributors, driving the overall collections upward.

The healthy second Saturday surge has put Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai firmly on track to collect approximately Rs. 10 crore during its second weekend. With this trend, the film is expected to end its theatrical run close to the Rs. 60 crore mark.

The next milestone, however, will be considerably tougher. To reach the Rs. 70 crore benchmark, the film will need to sustain collections despite the arrival of major releases such as Cocktail 2 and Welcome To The Jungle. Its performance over the coming weekdays and third weekend will determine whether it can continue its box office journey and challenge that target.

For now, the second Saturday growth has provided the film with a much-needed boost and reaffirmed its appeal among audiences across several key markets.

Mumbai’s Regal cinema replaces Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Main Vaapas Aaunga with Obsession; sleeper BLOCKBUSTER is the BEST performing film, beating new releases; makes an entry into mass-appealing theaters

There have been numerous releases this week and yet Obsession continues to remain rock-solid. The film entered its third week yesterday, on June 12, and collected Rs. 3.50 crores. This is higher than what it had collected on its second Friday – Rs. 3.30 crores. Hence, there’s a possibility that after collecting more in Week 2 than in Week 1, Obsession might collect more in its third week than in its second week. Moreover, the figure of Rs. 3.50 crores is higher than the collections of new releases like Haunted – Echoes Of The Past, Main Vaapas Aaunga, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Governor, Disclosure Day and Backrooms. Haunted – Echoes Of The Past has surprised the trade by collecting Rs. 2.72 crores, but it’s still short of Obsession’s 15th-day collection.

Realizing that the film continues to attract considerable footfalls, theatres are adding its shows. Mumbai’s iconic single screen, Regal, began playing Obsession for the first time since its release from June 12 at 1:30 pm and 9:45 pm. It had allotted a show of Main Vaapas Aaunga at 4:00 pm and Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata at 7:15 pm. But from Saturday, it is playing Obsession in all four shows, possibly as the Hindi releases didn’t get the desired footfalls.

Meanwhile, Obsession also began playing in theatres like Mukta A2 Sun City, New Excelsior and Gold Santacruz from June 12. A trade expert explained, “These are not cinemas where niche Hollywood films are released, that too in the English version. But then, Obsession is no longer niche. The word has spread and people want to check it out, including a section of the masses.”

The expert also said, “These theatres have reasonably priced tickets, even on weekends, and hence, viewers will now get a chance to see the film without burning a hole in their pocket.”

Regal is selling tickets of Obsession for just Rs. 150, Rs. 200 and Rs. 250. In Sun City, while the morning show is priced at just Rs. 130, the night show tickets are available for Rs. 220 and Rs. 250. In Gold Santacruz, one needs to spend a mere Rs. 150 and in New Excelsior, one needs to shell out only Rs. 200 to buy a ticket for the film.

Obsession collected Rs. 18.55 crores in Week 1 and Rs. 31.28 crores in its second week. It crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark on Friday and hence, its 15-day collections stand at Rs. 53.33 crores. If the film continues to remain steady this week and the next, it has the chance of entering the Rs. 100 crore club.

Kriti Sanon, sister Nupur and mother Geeta reportedly sell four Mumbai apartments for Rs. 8.9 crores

Actress Kriti Sanon, along with her sister Nupur Sanon and mother Geeta Sanon, has reportedly sold four residential units in Mumbai’s Andheri West for a combined value of Rs. 8.9 crores. According to details accessed through property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards, the buyer is said to be noted casting director and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra.

The reported transaction involves four apartments located in the premium residential complex Raheja Classique in Andheri West, one of Mumbai’s sought-after suburban neighbourhoods. The sale has attracted attention not only because of the celebrity connection but also due to the substantial appreciation in the value of the properties over the years.

As per the documents, two of the apartments have a built-up area of 654.23 square feet each and come with one designated parking space apiece. These units were reportedly sold for Rs. 3.24 crore each. The stamp duty paid on each transaction was said to be Rs. 19.41 lakhs, while registration charges stood at Rs. 30,000 per unit.

In addition, two smaller apartments in the same building, each measuring 246.06 square feet, were reportedly sold for Rs. 1.21 crores each. The documents indicate that stamp duty of Rs. 7.29 lakhs and registration charges of Rs. 30,000 were paid for each of these transactions.

Reports further suggest that Geeta Sanon had initially invested in two of the apartments in 2013 for approximately Rs. 1.40 crores. Meanwhile, Kriti and Nupur Sanon are said to have acquired the remaining two units in 2017 for a combined amount of around Rs. 2.90 crores. Taken together, the original investment value of the four apartments stood at approximately Rs. 4.30 crores.

With the properties now reportedly sold for Rs. 8.9 crores, the transaction reflects a notable increase in value, highlighting the appreciation of real estate assets in the area over the past decade.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Kriti Sanon continues to stay busy with multiple projects in her pipeline. The actress is currently gearing up for the release of Cocktail 2, which also stars Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 19 and remains one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the season.

Nupur Sanon, on the other hand, has been making headlines for her personal life and is currently enjoying a new chapter with husband and musician Stebin Ben.

Priyanka Chopra features as the only woman among Fortune India’s three standalone covers for June 2026

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has secured the third position on Fortune India and Interbrand India’s maiden Most Valuable Celebrities 2026 ranking, published in the June 2026 issue of Fortune India.

This first-of-its-kind study, conducted by Fortune India in partnership with global brand consultancy Interbrand, ranks the top 25 most commercially valuable Indian celebrities.

Chopra Jonas is the only woman to feature on Fortune India’s standalone cover series for this edition, appearing alongside Virat Kohli, who tops the list, and Akshay Kumar, ranked sixth.

The full top ten reads: Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, MS Dhoni, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Alia Bhatt, and Allu Arjun.

Notably, her last Hindi theatrical release was The Sky Is Pink in October 2019, making her the only woman in the top three despite a seven-year absence from Bollywood.

Rakesh Roshan shuts down reports of Hrithik Roshan-YRF budget clash over Krrish 4: “There are no issues”

The development of Krrish 4 has been under intense scrutiny ever since reports surfaced claiming there were disagreements between Hrithik Roshan and Yash Raj Films over the film’s budget. However, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has now firmly dismissed such speculation, calling the reports baseless and reiterating that the ambitious superhero project is progressing smoothly.

Over the past few months, industry chatter suggested that Hrithik Roshan, who is set to make his directorial debut with Krrish 4, was keen on mounting the film on a massive scale with world-class visual effects and action sequences. Reports further claimed that while Hrithik envisioned a budget of around Rs 500 crores, Yash Raj Films preferred to keep production costs closer to Rs 350 crores to ensure commercial viability.

Addressing these rumours, Rakesh Roshan told Mid-Day, “It’s all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a Rs 500 crore budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action for his directorial debut, while YRF wants to cap costs at Rs 350 crores. Making a good film catering to a [wide] audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings.”

The filmmaker also shed light on why the much-awaited superhero sequel has yet to go on floors despite being announced some time ago. According to him, the delay has more to do with scheduling than any creative or financial differences. “Krrish is on another planet and we are all waiting for his dates,” Rakesh Roshan joked, referring to Hrithik’s packed professional commitments.

He further clarified that there are no issues between the stakeholders involved in the project. “There are no issues; all is smooth. It’s teamwork between Adi, Hrithik, and me,” he said.

Krrish 4 has undergone several changes over the years. Earlier, director Karan Malhotra and filmmaker-producer Siddharth Anand were reportedly associated with the project. However, the film eventually took a new direction, with Hrithik Roshan stepping into the director’s chair. The upcoming installment is being jointly backed by Rakesh Roshan’s Filmkraft and Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films.

While Rakesh Roshan refrained from sharing a definitive timeline for production, he revealed that the script is nearly finalized and the makers are hoping to begin filming by the end of the year. “I will update you when everything is ready,” he concluded.

World Environment Day 2026: Bhumi Pednekar calls out film industry’s carbon footprint, says ‘we are not doing enough’

On the occasion of World Environment Day, actor and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) National Advocate Bhumi Pednekar spoke passionately about the urgent need for climate action and sustainability, emphasizing that environmental concerns can no longer remain a secondary conversation. The actor reflected on her long-standing commitment to environmental causes and urged both individuals and industries to take greater responsibility towards protecting the planet.

Bhumi revealed that her concern for climate change began long before she entered the entertainment industry. As a teenager, she often worried about the future of the environment and the consequences of unchecked human activity. Looking at the current state of the world, she believes many of those fears have unfortunately materialized.

According to the actor, the effects of climate change are now impossible to ignore. From rising temperatures and extreme weather events to growing environmental challenges across the globe, Bhumi feels the world is witnessing the consequences of years of unsustainable practices.
