EXCLUSIVE: Pratik Gandhi says his Ghamasaan character Aditya “is not scared of losing anything which makes him very powerful”

Actor Pratik Gandhi is set to return with Ghamasaan, an upcoming action thriller that will premiere on ZEE5 in Hindi on September 11, 2026. The actor plays Aditya, a police officer whose investigation into Maharaj gradually becomes a deeply personal pursuit.

EXCLUSIVE: Pratik Gandhi says his Ghamasaan character Aditya “is not scared of losing anything which makes him very powerful”

Speaking about what drew him to the character, Pratik described Aditya as a passionate and fearless officer who is willing to go beyond the boundaries of his official duty.

“I think Aditya is very passionate and courageous, at the same time a fearless officer, he goes beyond the call of his duty. He was put on a particular project, a mission which was time-bound but when he realises what Maharaj has been doing to the people in that region for the longest time, he actually takes it very personally. And that makes it interesting as a character to create. There are many layers to him, he is charming, and there are scenes with his wife. But at the same time, he makes it very difficult for his wife as he is unable to create that boundary between his personal life and his duty and that makes the character very interesting for me.”

Pratik Gandhi on Aditya beyond his uniform

For Pratik, Aditya is not defined solely by his position as a police officer. The actor sees the character as someone who relies heavily on instinct and is willing to make difficult decisions based on what he believes is right.

“He is courageous, charming, and he strongly feels that he should follow his gut. He has taken a lot of decisions based on his gut feeling throughout the film, and that actually makes him a little different from the general officers that we have seen.”

Aditya’s inability to completely separate his personal life from his professional responsibilities is also an important part of his character. His relationship with his wife gives the audience a glimpse into the personal cost of his choices as his investigation becomes increasingly consuming.

Duty, justice and personal conviction drive Aditya

According to Pratik, Aditya’s actions are driven by a combination of professional responsibility, his belief in justice and a strong personal conviction to see his mission through.

“All of it. Duty, a strong sense of justice that he feels should be served to the people of the country, and his passion to deliver it at any cost. He is not scared of losing anything which makes him very powerful.”

Ghamasaan explores Aditya’s pursuit of Maharaj as his investigation takes him beyond the limits of a time-bound assignment. The character’s determination and willingness to follow his instincts form a key part of the film’s narrative.

Ghamasaan will begin streaming in Hindi on ZEE5 from September 11, 2026.

11 Years of Welcome Back: When John Abraham proved he could be just as funny as he is cool

Eleven years after Welcome Back hit theatres, the Anees Bazmee comedy is remembered for its madcap humour, colourful characters and larger-than-life chaos. But its anniversary also offers a chance to revisit an underrated aspect of John Abraham’s stardom — his ability to be genuinely funny.

11 Years of Welcome Back: When John Abraham proved he could be just as funny as he is cool

John has long been associated with being a particular kind of Bollywood hero: physically imposing, effortlessly cool and increasingly synonymous with action. Yet, well before becoming one of Hindi cinema’s most dependable action stars, he showed that comedy could also be part of his repertoire.

In Welcome Back, John played Ajju Bhai and stepped into a world dominated by Uday Shetty, Majnu Bhai and Bazmee’s trademark madness. Instead of competing with the film’s louder comic personalities, John largely played it straight. That restraint became part of the humour.

It was a quality he had already displayed in Garam Masala. Sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, John’s straight-faced reactions made the increasingly chaotic situations even funnier.

Dostana showcased another side. His easy chemistry with Abhishek Bachchan and his natural charm helped him hold his own without having to dominate every scene.

While Desi Boyz took that comic persona further, Housefull 2 placed him comfortably within an ensemble built around confusion and broad humour.

In Dishoom, John’s restrained, serious cop persona playing off Varun Dhawan’s far more energetic character spelt comedy

That, perhaps, is the secret of John’s comic timing. He rarely appears to be trying too hard to be funny. Instead, the humour comes from watching the quintessential John Abraham — cool, composed and physically imposing — being thrown into situations where nothing is under control. His reactions become the punchline.

Of course, action has since become a defining part of his screen identity, with films such as Force, Rocky Handsome, Satyameva Jayate, Attack and Pathaan reinforcing that image. At the same time, films like Batla House and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran have showcased a more grounded performer.

But 11 years of Welcome Back is a timely reminder that there is more to John Abraham than just six-pack action. His comic roles remain some of the most rewatchable parts of his filmography — proof that sometimes, the coolest guy in the room can also be the funniest.

EXCLUSIVE: Kareena Kapoor Khan opens on breaking out of boxes and choosing films; says, “I want to be working and look amazing and do those parts even when I’m 75”

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to headline Daayra, her upcoming film with Prithviraj Sukumaran, directed by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. The film is scheduled to release on September 18, 2026. Ahead of its release, Kareena spoke about her approach to choosing projects, the kind of filmmakers she wanted to collaborate with and her reluctance to be confined to a particular genre or image.

v

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kareena was asked about being at a stage in her career where she did not necessarily have to take up films simply because her friends were doing them or because a particular genre was popular. She was also asked what made her decide that a particular project was something she wanted to pursue.

Kareena said that she was looking to work with directors who could challenge her creatively and push her to explore something different. “I think, for me, at this stage, I want to work with good directors who will probably push me and challenge me to do something different. Also, like Meghna earlier said in your interview, that there’s no formula for anything in our film industry. Like at this stage, you could do this or you know, there’s no formula.”

She added that actors were often placed in certain boxes based on the kind of roles they had previously played. “All these things, I think, are just people who kind of put you in that box. This is what you have to do.”

Kareena also addressed the expectations surrounding the kind of roles audiences want to see her in. She said that while people may expect her to continue doing comic or light-hearted films, she did not want to limit herself to one particular space.

“And I know that people want me to do a certain kind of role also, where they’re like, ‘Okay, now we want to see her in this comic zone, in this kind of fun film.’ But I’m like, an actor can’t keep doing that also. So we have to kind of pick and choose.”

Talking about being more selective with her work, Kareena said, “At this stage, it’s also about the fact that I’m doing lesser work. But there are only a handful of five directors. I don’t want to name them, but I’m happy that Meghna is one of them. So then we have to look for the scripts.”

Kareena further spoke about her experience of working with Meghna and Prithviraj on Daayra. “So I wanted to work with her, and I’m happy that we’ve come together and I’ve worked with Prithvi. I would love to work with him again in a full kind of thing.”

The actor also made it clear that she did not want age or career milestones to dictate the roles she should take on. “I want to be working and look amazing and do those parts even when I’m 75. I’ll still not be at any stage.”

Daayra is slated to arrive in cinemas on September 18, 2026, bringing together Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran under Meghna Gulzar’s direction.

Shalini Pandey reacts to fake AI-generated video: “It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way”

Shalini Pandey has become the latest celebrity to speak out against the misuse of artificial intelligence after a fake AI-generated video featuring her was circulated online. The actress addressed the incident on social media, clarifying that the video does not feature her and urging fans and followers to refrain from sharing or forwarding the fabricated content.

Shalini Pandey reacts to fake AI-generated video: “It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way”

The video, which reportedly showed an edited depiction of the actress, began circulating online, prompting questions among social media users about its authenticity. Shalini has now confirmed that the clip is entirely fabricated and condemned the misuse of technology to create misleading and potentially harmful content involving individuals.

Sharing a statement about the incident, Shalini Pandey wrote, “I want to address a fake, Al-generated video of me that is currently being circulated online.” The actress further clarified that the video does not depict her and spoke about the impact of such misuse of artificial intelligence, particularly when women are targeted. She wrote, “The video is completely fabricated and does not depict me. It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way to target and harm individuals, especially women.”

Shalini also stressed that such incidents should not be treated as normal or acceptable in the digital space. Condemning the misuse of AI, she said, “I strongly condemn this kind of abuse and believe such misuse of technology should never be normalised.” The actress also made a direct appeal to people who may come across the video online. Instead of engaging with or helping amplify the content, she urged users to report it and prevent its further circulation.

“If you come across this video, please do not share, forward, download, or engage with it. Instead, please report it immediately. I request everyone to be responsible and mindful, and help stop its circulation rather than giving it further reach. Thankyou!” she concluded.

The incident highlights growing concerns around the misuse of AI to create fabricated images and videos of public figures. Female celebrities in particular have previously faced similar instances involving manipulated or AI-generated content, with several taking steps to protect their identity, image and personality rights.

With artificial intelligence tools becoming increasingly accessible, such incidents have also raised questions around consent, privacy and the need for greater awareness about digitally manipulated content. Shalini Pandey’s appeal to report rather than circulate the video comes amid these broader concerns over the impact of AI-generated misinformation and abuse.

For now, the actress has clearly stated that the circulating video is fake and has urged social media users to act responsibly by not contributing to its reach.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Deepika Padukone as Naina Talwar gets a special mention from The Academy years after the film’s release

More than a decade after the release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the character of Naina Talwar as Deepika Padukone has once again found herself in the spotlight. The Academy’s official social media handle recently shared a video featuring one of Naina’s memorable dialogues from the 2013 film, bringing the character back into conversations around the popular Hindi romantic drama.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Deepika Padukone as Naina Talwar gets a special mention from The Academy years after the film’s release

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani featured Deepika Padukone as Naina Talwar, a shy and introverted medical student whose journey through friendship, love and self-discovery formed an important part of the narrative. The film also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in key roles.

The Academy’s social media post focused on one of Naina’s dialogues, offering a fresh reminder of the character more than 13 years after the film’s theatrical release. Naina’s transformation from a reserved student to a more confident woman remains one of the defining elements of the film.

The character’s story explored themes of friendship, unrequited love and personal growth. Naina first meets Kabir “Bunny” Thapar, played by Ranbir Kapoor, during a trekking trip with their former classmates. She develops feelings for him but chooses not to express them. The two eventually lose touch before reconnecting at the wedding of their mutual friend Aditi Mehra.

Deepika’s portrayal of Naina became closely associated with the character’s understated personality and gradual evolution. Her appearance, including Naina’s signature glasses and reserved demeanour in the early portions of the film, also became recognisable elements of the role.

The Academy’s latest social media post has once again brought attention to the character and the film, which continues to have a presence in popular culture years after its release. Naina’s journey, particularly her movement from insecurity towards self-assurance, remains a key reason the character continues to resonate with viewers.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, also known as YJHD, was released in 2013 and marked the second collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone after Bachna Ae Haseeno. The film was written by Ayan Mukerji and Hussain Dalal and produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions.

The ensemble cast also included Kunaal Roy Kapur, Evelyn Sharma, Farooq Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi and Dolly Ahluwalia, among others. The film combined its coming-of-age narrative with themes of relationships, ambition and choosing one’s own path.

With The Academy revisiting one of Naina Talwar’s dialogues, the character has once again become part of the ongoing conversation around Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and its lasting recall among audiences.
