REVEALED: Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer L2 Empuraan ends with the promise of a sequel L3 The Beginning

The wait for L2 Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer, finally got over. The fans of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran have more than one reason to celebrate when they venture out to see this grand entertainer. The film, which continues the gripping saga of Stephen Nedumpally, ends on a massive high—with the announcement of a third instalment titled L3 The Beginning.

L2 Empuraan not only raises the stakes with its intense political drama, high-octane action, and global scale, but it also sets the foundation for an even bigger cinematic universe. The closing moments of the film tease a powerful narrative turn and introduces more characters. It also goes back into the past to answer questions which weren’t answered either by Lucifer or L2 Empuraan.

Moreover, the title L3 The Beginning also suggests a prequel-sequel hybrid that could explore the backstory of Stephen Nedumpally while simultaneously advancing the saga. This move hints at Prithviraj’s vision to create a multi-part crime-political thriller saga akin to international franchises.

With L2 Empuraan already generating immense buzz and now the confirmation of L3 The Beginning, the Lucifer universe has the potential to become one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious and successful trilogies. For fans, this is just the beginning of a larger-than-life journey.

Besides Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2 Empuraan also stars Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh and others. The first part focused on a mysterious influential character of Kerala who shapes the politics of the state. Lucifer also hinted at the protagonist’s close association with a dreaded mercenary. The sequel further explores their relationship and their beginnings and at the same time, throws light on the political chaos that ensues in Kerala.

At the promotional events of L2 Empuraan, Prithviraj Sukumaran said that Lucifer was always meant to have three parts. But L3 The Beginning is sure to make moviegoers wonder – can there be many more parts in the offing in the future?

Ticket rates for Sikandar go through the roof; Mumbai’s single screen Plaza charges a WHOPPING Rs. 700 for recliner seats; trade experts appeal cinemas to keep prices affordable: “Craze for Salman Khan’s films comes from the masses, not the rich”

Sikandar is all set to release in cinemas in a few days and as it happens with event films, the prices have been increased considerably. As per trade sources, many cinemas are charging the same price which they did for Pushpa 2 – The Rule. For the Allu Arjun starrer, Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 multiplex had increased the ticket rates to Rs. 200 for the first time for the balcony. The same ticket price is also charged for Sikandar with stall tickets being sold for Rs. 180.

Ticket rates for Sikandar go through the roof; Mumbai's single screen Plaza charges a WHOPPING Rs. 700 for recliner seats; trade experts appeal cinemas to keep prices affordable: "Craze for Salman Khan's films comes from the masses, not the rich"

But what has shocked the trade and industry is that the humble single screen of Mumbai, Plaza, has increased the ticket exponentially. It normally prices the sofa class, box sofa and recliners (all 3 in balcony) for Rs. 350, Rs. 400 and Rs. 450 respectively. But for Sikandar, one will have to pay Rs. 600 for sofa, Rs. 650 for sofa box and Rs. 700 for recliners! Needless to say, the prices are also much higher than the price points in the cinema halls in its vicinity.

An industry insider, on condition of anonymity, saw the rates and remarked, “The recliner seats in Plaza are great but why would I pay such a huge amount for a single-screen theatre? I’d rather spend the same amount for normal seats in PVR. Single screens ideally shouldn’t go for such pricing.”

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “This is all about demand and supply. Ideally, they should make tickets affordable. But then everyone wants numbers.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan added to this point saying, “This has always been the point of debate. The theatres justify it by claiming that they have invested in a bomb and are giving a premium experience. Agreed that it’s festival time but still, the prices shouldn’t be out of reach.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal opined, “The insanely high-ticket prices may deter the collections. If it has indeed happened, then it can affect the collections by 10-15% at least. They shouldn’t keep the price too high.”

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, explained, “This shouldn’t be happening. We exhibitors are making the biggest mistake by outpricing the cinema experience for a majority of Indians. If we don’t understand this basic premise, we’ll have to shut shop eventually.”

Ticket rates for Sikandar go through the roof; Mumbai's single screen Plaza charges a WHOPPING Rs. 700 for recliner seats; trade experts appeal cinemas to keep prices affordable: "Craze for Salman Khan's films comes from the masses, not the rich"

He continued, “We should understand that ameer aadmi ki koi loyalty nahin hoti. The rich won’t be loyal towards Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, the rich consider themselves to be Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan! Then, why would they show that craze to watch their films? It’s the mass audience that generates craze and they are majorly responsible as to why our cinemas are running. As a result, overpricing needs to be stopped immediately. Otherwise, we are in for a very bad time.”

When we spoke to Vishek Chauhan, the advance booking hadn’t commenced in his cinema hall but he made it clear, “I’ll try to keep the rates as reasonable as possible.”

Late trailer strategy worked?

The trailer of Sikandar was released just a week before its release. While some questioned this move, trade experts feel that it was the right decision. Atul Mohan stated, “That’s the trend. Earlier, trailers used to be released 2 months before. Now, people are consuming so much content that the recall value has lessened. Now, if you put out your asset early, then there’s a fear that your product might become stale. Now, everything has become instant. People now prefer to watch the trailer and then immediately decide to go for it.”

Vishek Chauhan exulted, “This is the better way to go for films. This is because the attention span is so short that people are not able to retain the film’s assets for a longer period. We have seen in the past where after a ‘wow’ trailer, people have overlooked the film. I believe we are living in an age of information overkill. Hence, people should be naturally curious about a film. In today’s times, every actor and everything is on social media. Hence, people are very well aware of what the film is all about, whether it’s a remake, etc. Hence, a shorter promotional window makes sense in today’s digital age.”

Helmed by Ruchir and produced by the makers of Drishyam, the series plunges into a world of masterful schemes and life-or-death stakes. Sahil Mehta delivers a riveting performance as Palash, a street-smart hustler caught in a dangerous web of crime, keeping audiences on edge, while Tanya Maniktala’s intense portrayal of Latika, a resilient football coach grappling with moral dilemmas, adds further depth and complexity. The series also boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Gyanendra Tripathi, Saad Bilgrami, Ronjini Chakraborty, Nitin Goel, and Amit Sarkar in pivotal roles, elevating the high-stakes drama of Loot Kaand.

Tanya Maniktala calls her Loot Kaand character "beautifully flawed yet deeply compassionate"

Reflecting on her transformative journey of bringing Latika to life, Tanya shares, “A well-structured script and the Director’s vision made the process incredibly seamless. He guided me in shaping Latika’s contrasting traits—while I naturally embody a quiet strength, Latika is fearless, outspoken, and unyielding. Ruchir sir masterfully wove in her vulnerability, allowing me to explore the delicate balance between her sensitivity and sharp resolve. At the core, Latika is a beautifully flawed yet deeply compassionate strong, graceful, and unwavering in her love for her family. My approach was to embrace every layer of Latika, ensuring she resonated as an authentic and multifaceted character.”

She further opened up about the camaraderie on set, saying, “Despite of Loot Kaand’s fast-paced world, unwinding it felt organic on set because the team became family. Shooting outdoors had its own charm, and Sahil and I often found ourselves revisiting scenes, exchanging perspectives, and delving deeper into our characters. Ruchir sir fostered an environment where creativity flowed naturally, making it easy to stay engaged without feeling the need for a break. In many ways, unwinding wasn’t about detaching from the characters but embracing the journey with people who shared the same passion. Filming felt less like work and more like an enriching collaboration, where lasting friendships were built along the way.”

Loot Kaand is now streaming for free exclusively on Amazon MX Player, available through its apps on mobile, Amazon’s shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Connected TVs.

Hansal Mehta backs Kunal Kamra, recalls being assaulted by Shiv Sena workers

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has come out in support of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who recently faced vandalism at a Mumbai comedy club by Shiv Sena members. Taking to X aka Twitter, Mehta recounted the traumatic incident that took place during the release of his 2000 film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar.

Mehta took to the social media platform to share his own harrowing experience from over two decades ago, when he was assaulted and publicly humiliated by loyalists of the same political party.  He revealed how his office was stormed, vandalised, and he was physically assaulted by members of the then-undivided Shiv Sena over a single line of dialogue in his film.

“What happened with Kamra is, sadly, not new to Maharashtra. I’ve lived through it myself. Twenty-five years ago, loyalists of the same (then undivided) political party stormed into my office. They vandalised it, physically assaulted me, blackened my face, and forced me to apologise publicly—by falling at the feet of an elderly woman—for a single line of dialogue in my film. The line was harmless, almost trivial. The film had already been cleared by the Censor Board with 27 other cuts. But that didn’t matter,” Mehta wrote.

Describing the gravity of the situation, Mehta recalled being forced into a public apology in front of a massive crowd, with political leaders and the Mumbai Police standing in silent observation. The humiliation left a lasting impact on him, not just physically but also emotionally and creatively. “At the so-called ‘apology’ venue, at least 20 political figures arrived in full strength to oversee what can only be described as a public shaming—with 10,000 onlookers and the Mumbai Police watching in silence. That incident didn’t just bruise my body. It bruised my spirit. It blunted my filmmaking, muted my courage, and silenced parts of me that took years to reclaim,” he shared.

Emphasizing the need for a more civil approach to disagreements, Mehta stated, “No matter how deep the disagreement, no matter how sharp the provocation—violence, intimidation, and humiliation can never be justified. We owe ourselves, and each other, better. We owe ourselves dialogue, dissent, and dignity.”

His statement comes in the wake of the recent attack on Kunal Kamra, where members of the Shiv Sena vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai following a political satire by the comedian. While Kamra’s remarks were aimed at political shifts within Maharashtra, the violent reaction from party workers has sparked debates on freedom of speech and artistic expression. By drawing parallels between his own experience and Kamra’s, Hansal Mehta has reignited discussions about the intimidation tactics used against dissenting voices in the state.

Jaat trailer launch: Sunny Deol explains what has gone wrong with Bollywood: “The whole arrangement became commercial once the corporates entered the scenario…har aadmi director ban jaata hai…”

Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Siingh, director Gopichandh Malineni and producers Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili and T G Vishwa Prasad attended the trailer launch of their film Jaat at a multiplex in Mumbai. Sunny Deol spoke highly of the workings of the South film industry and made some headline-worthy statements. He gave an interesting answer when asked what Bollywood should do to get back with a bang.

Jaat trailer launch: Sunny Deol explains what has gone wrong with Bollywood: "The whole arrangement became commercial once the corporates entered the scenario…har aadmi director ban jaata hai…"

Sunny Deol explained, “Hum kho gaye hai. Earlier, a producer would love the story that the director has narrated to him. Then, they used to make the film. Later, the whole arrangement became commercial once the corporates entered the scenario. The cinema tickets got very commercial too. The interest of people diminished. Sab paise banane ka chakkar reh gaya. Everyone became a victim of this system. That hunger among filmmakers was left behind.”

He continued, “It’s a cycle and hopefully, it’ll change soon. It won’t change overnight. While working on this film, I saw that the producers believed in the subject completely. Then, they gave full freedom to the director. Agreed that sometimes the directors go overbudget but that’s because the directors want to enhance the impact of the scene. Such kind of patience and understanding on the part of the producer is very necessary.”

He added, “But in our films, people would be like ‘Time ho gaya lekin ab tak shoot khatam nahin hua, kya karoge, kya kar rahe ho, kyun nahin kar rahe ho, isko kaat doyeh sequence hata doyeh nahin chahiye, woh nahin chahiye. Har aadmi director ban jaata hai! It’s no longer a director’s medium then.”

Sunny Deol ended his answer on a hopeful note, “When this system is changed, I am sure we’ll also make better films.”

Jaat releases in cinemas on April 10.

John Abraham named first honorary director of PETA India at 25th anniversary celebration

John’s many compassionate actions on behalf of animals include successfully urging e-retailer Quikr to stop allowing live animals to be traded on its platform, requesting the Centre to ban animal acts in circuses, speaking up for pigs illegally killed in backyards, appealing to the Nepali government to end the Chitwan Festival’s abusive elephant “games”; appearing in an eye-popping campaign calling attention to the suffering of elephants used for tourist rides and donating his Kaun Banega Crorepati winnings to PETA India. John has also adopted a community dog named Bailey. John was also named PETA India’s Person of the Year in 2020.

Aamir Khan reacts to son Junaid Khan’s Loveyapa underperforming at box-office: “It will make him tougher, it will make him work harder”

Actor Aamir Khan recently opened up about his son Junaid Khan’s journey in the film industry, stating that setbacks will only make him stronger. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Aamir candidly discussed Junaid’s career, his strengths and weaknesses, and the lessons that come with failure.

Aamir Khan reacts to son Junaid Khan’s Loveyapa underperforming at box-office: “It will make him tougher, it will make him work harder”

A Strong Start for Junaid Khan

Despite his latest film Loveyapa failing at the box office, Aamir remains optimistic about Junaid’s future. He expressed that Junaid has had a solid beginning in Bollywood. “He has made a good start. He has done a good job, and that’s all that matters. His biggest strength is that he gets into his character. I feel he is a good actor. But, he has his weaknesses too,” Aamir shared.

The Dangal actor playfully remarked on Junaid’s interview skills, saying, “When he gives interviews, he gives really strange answers. But, he will learn. And what I like about him is that he likes to make his own way, makes his own mistakes, and learns on his own. He is a good guy.”

Junaid’s latest project, Loveyapa, failed to impress audiences, but Aamir sees the silver lining. “He is a hardworking guy. Everyone has to face challenges in their life. Like his last film wasn’t successful. It’s good in a way. It will make him tougher, it will make him work harder. I think he is going well.”

Aamir and Junaid: Like Father, Like Son

Reflecting on their similarities, Aamir shared that he and Junaid have a lot in common. “We are very similar. I was very shy like him. Even I was bad at interviews. We are both very weird people. Our value systems are very strong. We fear stepping away from our value system. We do very impractical things to safeguard it. But what seems impractical to others is very important for us.” Aamir also described how both of them are equally stubborn. “Both me and Junaid are very ‘adial’ (stubborn), and it has nothing to do with our success. Junaid is not even successful yet, but he is still just like I am.”

Junaid Khan made his acting debut with Netflix’s Maharaj and was last seen in Loveyapa. Looking ahead, he will star in Ek Din, produced by Aamir Khan, alongside acclaimed actress Sai Pallavi

Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik REACTS to clean chit in Sushant Singh Rajput case: “Satyameva Jayate”

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially given actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and their family members a clean chit in the high-profile Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The CBI’s closure report, submitted after four years of investigation, concluded that there was no evidence of foul play in the tragic demise of the late actor, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020 at the age of 34. The news has relieved the Chakraborty family, who have endured intense scrutiny and legal battles since the incident.

Showik Chakraborty Speaks Out

Breaking his silence for the first time since the CBI’s decision, Showik Chakraborty took to Instagram on Saturday evening to express his emotions. Posting an old video featuring himself and his sister Rhea, Showik captioned it with the poignant phrase “Satyameva Jayate” – meaning “Truth alone triumphs” – accompanied by a folded hands emoji. Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty has yet to make an official statement.

The road to this moment has been tumultuous for the Chakraborty family. Following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rhea and Showik found themselves at the center of multiple investigations. In September 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested the siblings in a drugs-related case linked to Rajput’s death. Rhea spent 27 days in judicial custody before being granted bail, while Showik faced a longer period of incarceration.

Rhea Chakraborty’s Lawyer’s Statement

Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, addressed the CBI’s closure of the case in a statement that shed light on the harrowing experiences endured by his client and her family. “Rhea was jailed for 27 days despite no fault of her own. I salute her and her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted out,” Maneshinde said. He revealed that the case came to him through close friends, including defense personnel with whom he studied at Sainik School, and lauded the resilience of Rhea’s family and his legal team in the face of adversity. “Both Rhea’s family, my team, and I were hounded and threatened with danger to our lives. I must say nothing deterred us from carrying out our legal duties,” he added.

The CBI’s decision marks the end of a nearly five-year-long saga that gripped the nation, sparked debates about mental health, justice, and media trials, and left an indelible mark on those involved.

Randeep Hooda underwent a major physical transformation for Veer Savarkar, losing significant weight for the role. This led to a fall from a horse, causing him to pass out and suffer severe ligament injuries in his knee. Despite the setback, he remained committed to the film, funding it himself and shooting intense scenes with knee braces, even running at times, which worsened his injury.

After months of treatment and rehabilitation at Kokilaben Hospital, Randeep Hooda has regained enough strength to return to horseback riding. A seasoned equestrian, he has been active in polo and show jumping for years, winning national-level medals and owning polo clubs and teams.

Aamir Khan recalls “torturous” Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar shoot: “4 actors bahot badtameez the”

Bollywood icon Aamir Khan recently peeled back the curtain on the tumultuous production of his 1992 cult classic Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, describing the filming process as “most torturous” during a candid conversation with the Just Too Filmy YouTube channel. The beloved coming-of-age sports drama, directed by Mansoor Khan, faced significant hurdles, including major recasting and on-set challenges, before becoming a cinematic gem.

Aamir Khan recalls “torturous” Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar shoot: “4 actors bahot badtameez the”

A Complete Reshoot: The Devika Dilemma

Aamir revealed that Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar was initially shot for 60-70 days in the picturesque locales of Ooty and Kodaikanal, but the footage left director Mansoor Khan dissatisfied. The character of Devika, a pivotal role in the film, didn’t meet expectations. “The film was shot twice. We shot for 60-70 days in Ooty and Kodaikanal. We came back, and after two months, Mansoor called me and said, ‘Devika’s character is not working,’” Aamir shared.

At the time, Devika was played by another actress, whom Aamir described as “a wonderful girl and a very good actress.” However, Mansoor felt she lacked the “natural arrogance” the role demanded. Since 40 percent of the film revolved around Devika, the team decided to reshoot her portions, ultimately casting Pooja Bedi in the role, which became iconic for its charm and sass.

On-Set Challenges: Misbehaving Actors

The reshoot wasn’t the only obstacle. Aamir disclosed that the production was further complicated by the behavior of four actors on set. “There were four other actors who were very ill-mannered. I won’t take their names, but they were giving us a lot of trouble,” he said, translating his Hindi comment, “4 actors the aur woh bahot badtameez the.” Frustrated by their conduct, Aamir urged Mansoor to seize the opportunity of the reshoot to replace them. “I told Mansoor, ‘If we are re-shooting 80 percent of the film, let’s remove these four as well and reshoot the entire film. I cannot tolerate them again,’” he recalled. As a result, nearly the entire cast—except for Aamir and Mamik Singh—was replaced, leading to a fresh start for the production.

Despite these setbacks, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar emerged as one of Bollywood’s most cherished films, celebrated for its heartfelt storytelling, memorable music by Jatin-Lalit, and a thrilling bicycle race climax. The film, which also starred Deepak Tijori, Kiran Zaveri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sooraj Thapar, and Deven Bhojani alongside Aamir and Pooja Bedi, resonated with audiences for its themes of friendship, rivalry, and personal growth.

Taapsee Pannu REACTS to Kirti Kulhari’s “sidelined” claim during Pink promotions: “I can’t discard her feelings”

Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has addressed recent comments made by her Pink co-star Kirti Kulhari, who claimed she felt “sidelined” during the film’s promotional campaign. In a candid interview with ETimes, Taapsee expressed surprise at Kirti’s feelings, stating that she was unaware of any discontent at the time and respects Kirti’s perspective.

Taapsee Pannu REACTS to Kirti Kulhari’s “sidelined” claim during Pink promotions: “I can’t discard her feelings”

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and produced by Shoojit Sircar, Pink (2016) is a gripping courtroom drama that follows three women—played by Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, and Andrea Tariang—whose lives unravel after a harrowing incident, with Amitabh Bachchan portraying their resolute lawyer. The film earned widespread critical acclaim and performed strongly at the box office, cementing its status as a landmark feminist narrative in Indian cinema.

Taapsee’s Reaction: Empathy Meets Unawareness

Reacting to Kirti’s remarks, Taapsee told ETimes, “How would I know? She has the full right to feel the way she does. I would be the last person to tell someone what you are feeling is wrong. If someone has felt a certain way, I’m sure there’s a reason.” She admitted that she had no knowledge of Kirti feeling sidelined during the promotions of Pink. “Had I known that she felt sidelined in any way, I would have liked to speak to her at that point and ask if there was something I could do to make it better. Unfortunately, I did not know there was an issue at that point. So, I don’t know what to do with it. I can’t discard her feelings,” Taapsee added.

The Thappad actress also shed light on her relationship with Kirti, clarifying that while they aren’t close friends, their professional rapport has remained intact. “Since she saw our relationship or situation in a certain way, maybe she felt the distance from me. I always kept it professional with her, and I still do. I worked with her in Mission Mangal as well, and I don’t think professionally anything changed for me, because from where I saw it, I did not see any disparity,” Taapsee explained.

Kirti Kulhari’s Perspective: The PR Disparity

Kirti Kulhari’s comments came during a recent reflection on her experience with Pink’s promotional efforts. She pointed out how the film’s trailer predominantly featured Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan, leaving her feeling overlooked despite her significant contribution to the movie. “I saw the trailer was mainly filled with Taapsee and Mr. Bachchan. That was the first jhatka for me because I know what I have done in the film,” Kirti recalled. She sought reassurance from producer Shoojit Sircar, who advised her, “Don’t worry about it, let the film come out.” Kirti, who has often distanced herself from aggressive PR tactics, added, “I never do PR. I believe my work will eventually be seen.”

Aadar Jain denies ‘time pass’ remark about Tara Sutaria; calls it a ‘false narrative’

Actor Aadar Jain has finally broken his silence regarding the controversy surrounding his viral “time pass” remark. The statement, made during his wedding speech for wife Alekha Advani, sparked speculation and criticism, as many believed it was directed toward his past relationship with actress Tara Sutaria. Aadar and Tara dated for several years before parting ways in 2023. However, Aadar has now addressed the controversy, asserting that his words were taken out of context and falsely interpreted.

Aadar Jain denies ‘time pass’ remark about Tara Sutaria; calls it a ‘false narrative’

Speaking to Times of India, Aadar refuted all claims suggesting his speech had any hidden meaning. The actor stated, “There are so many false narratives, false assumptions, but no fact-checkers. Unfortunately, what happens is when people make up stories and say certain things, the people who get affected are the people involved and their families. In this scenario, from day one, there have been so many things written. Out of respect, everyone has been silent about it. People then take liberty to say what they want. It’s unfair for her (pointing towards Alekha) and her family, me and my family, her (directing at Tara) and her family. Obviously, there’s no truth to any of it.”

Aadar Jain, who was previously in a relationship with Tara Sutaria, further stressed that his statement was taken out of context. “Whatever’s been written, there is no truth behind any of it… They misconstrued what I said and took 10 seconds of it. And then people form their own opinions about it. People have made it out to be something else and directed towards someone else. My parents always taught me to respect my past, my present and now my future. So that is how we have been brought up and we never meant to direct it towards anyone. I would not think of anyone else when I’m getting married. It’s unfortunate what happened. But there’s no truth behind any of it,” he explained.

Addressing the impact of false reports, he further added, “Things don’t work out for a reason. That doesn’t mean you turn out and start saying things about people. That’s not the kind of value system we have at home. Everyone has a past. She has a past. I have a past. XYZ has a past. Our parents have a past. It’s normal. That’s life… People will write things about me, and it’s no problem. But if you’re going to start writing about my wife, my family, my family values, ethics, things that reflect on my upbringing, that’s an issue.”

Emphasizing his frustration with the controversy, Aadar made it clear that he had remained silent for too long and would not address the matter again. He has further insisted that while he decided to speak up on it now because things have crossed the line he has asserted that this would be ‘the first and last’, where he will address the subject.

Aadar and Alekha tied the knot in February 2024, after breaking up his long-term relationship with Tara in 2023. With this clarification, the actor hopes to put an end to the speculation and move forward without further distractions.

Shabana Azmi on her ‘teenage crush’ Shashi Kapoor on his 87th birth anniversary, “I used to skip food from my pocket money and buy a photo of him”

Today marks the 87th birth anniversary of the legendary Shashi Kapoor. To mark the occasion, veteran actress Shabana Azmi, a great admirer of the late star, spoke about him by going down memory lane in an interview with us.

Shabana Azmi on her 'teenage crush' Shashi Kapoor on his 87th birth anniversary, "I used to skip food from my pocket money and buy a photo of him"

It’s Shashi Kapoor’s birth anniversary today… How do you remember him?
He was my teenage crush. I used to skip food that was allowed to me for pocket money and buy a photo of him. Then when he came with family to visit Papaji (Prithviraj Kapoor), who was our neighbour, I would shyly give him the photo for his autograph and then run away.

Eventually he was your co-star in quite a few films including the outstanding Junoon
I couldn’t believe I was working opposite him in Heera Aur Patthar! Then several films followed and he used to tease me constantly. He was definitely the most good looking hero of all times.

Was working with him a learning experience?
He taught me several things about lighting, how to keep my head lowered to avoid the top light, etc. He would make me stare into the reflector, so I could get used to it. Those days the reflectors were very harsh and my eyes would tear up.

His passion for theatre was insane
He used the money he earned to build Prithvi Theatre which is an institution. And to make films like 36 Chowringhee Lane…he launched Aparna Sen as a director.

His later years were painful for him and his fans
Sadly, he let himself go after his wife Jennifer passed away and he fell ill. He was known as the pretty boy but he was also a good actor and the first to work in Hollywood with Pretty Polly. His contribution to Indian cinema is yet to be fully appreciated. He will always be remembered.

Adi Irani recalls struggling to buy milk for daughter after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar success: “I used to lie…”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Baazigar (1993) remains an iconic Bollywood thriller. However, not every cast member enjoyed the fruits of its success. Adi Irani, who portrayed Vicky Malhotra in the film, recently shared a heart-wrenching account of his financial struggles in the years that followed. Despite being part of a hit movie alongside SRK and Kajol, Adi faced hardships that left him unable to afford even basic necessities for his family. In a candid interview with Filmytantra Media, Adi Irani, brother of veteran actress Aruna Irani, reflected on his post-Baazigar life.

Adi Irani recalls struggling to buy milk for daughter after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar success: “I used to lie…”

A Father’s Struggle: Couldn’t Afford Milk for His Daughter

Adi Irani’s revelations paint a stark picture of his financial woes. Recalling the birth of his first daughter in 1995, he said, “My first daughter was born in 1995, and at that point in time, milk cost Rs 5, and sometimes I did not even have that.”

To make ends meet, Adi relied on a borrowed scooter from a friend to scour the city for job opportunities. “Every day I had to go out into the city and meet people for jobs and roles,” he shared. However, even this lifeline came with its own challenges. “Sometimes I did not even have money to fill up the tank,” he admitted. On days when petrol was out of reach, Adi resorted to walking to the bus stop, a humbling experience for an actor who had once shared the screen with Bollywood’s biggest names.

Hiding the Truth: Sneaking Home From the Bus Stop

He recounted how he would walk to the bus stop when he couldn’t afford fuel, only to face curious onlookers. “People used to ask me, ‘What are you doing at a bus stop?’ and I used to lie and say that I was just waiting for a friend,” he said. When pressed further with questions like, “Why would you need to travel on a bus?” Adi would quietly slip away, sneaking back home to avoid further scrutiny.

Refusing Help From Sister Aruna Irani

Adi Irani’s struggles were not unknown to his family, particularly his sister, Aruna Irani, a well-known actress in her own right. When asked if she offered support, Adi revealed, “My sister knew about my situation and offered her help many times, but I refused.” His decision stemmed from a sense of independence and responsibility. “I am her brother, but that doesn’t mean that she will take care of me all her life; that was my own struggle, and moreover, she had a family of her own to care for,” he explained.

Adi Irani’s acting credits extend beyond Baazigar. He also appeared in Salman Khan and Preity Zinta’s Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) and Welcome (2007), among other projects.
