Ameesha Patel reacts to Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s age gap controversy; says, “Jab jodi chalti hai to chalti hai”

Actress Ameesha Patel shared her thoughts on the significant age gap between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in their film Sikandar. Speaking at an event in Mumbai, she was asked about the ongoing debate that arose during a recent press conference regarding their age difference.

In a conversation with IANS, When asked about Salman Khan romancing Rashmika Mandanna, who is 31 years younger than him in Sikandar, Ameesha Patel stated, “Mere aur Sunny ji mein bhi to 20 saal ka gap tha, par jab jodi chalti hai to chalti hai.” To recall, Ameesha has worked with Sunny Deol in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Gadar 2, both of which were box office hits. Notably, there is an 18-year age difference between them.

A few days ago, at the trailer launch event of Sikandar, Salman Khan addressed the significant age gap between senior actors and younger actresses in films. Speaking in his signature style, he remarked, “I have a 31-year age difference between me and the heroine. The heroine doesn’t have this problem. The heroine’s father doesn’t have this problem.” Next, he turned toward Rashmika and asked her, “You don’t have this problem, right?”

In Indian cinema, it’s common for older male actors to be paired with much younger heroines. Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, followed this trend. The action thriller hit theaters on March 30 but received a mixed response. Despite the buzz, it struggled to leave a mark at the box office.

In Sikandar, Sanjay Sikandar Rajkot (Salman Khan), the king of Rajkot, becomes the target of Minister Rakesh Pradhan (Sathyaraj) after killing his son. When his wife’s donated organs save three lives, Rakesh seeks revenge, forcing Sanjay to protect them. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kishore, Jatin Sarna, and Sanjay Kapoor, among others.
