In a recent interview with Galatta India, Arjun Kapoor made a rare mention of his late stepmother, legendary actor Sridevi, while reflecting on his childhood memories. Arjun referred to Sridevi as “ma’am” while discussing the production of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. For the unversed, the 1993 film produced by his father, Boney Kapoor.
Sharing nostalgic details, Arjun said, “My entire life with my father was being on Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja set. Even by today’s standards, it is one of the biggest films we ever made. It had Anil Kapoor, Sridevi ma’am, and Jaggu dada, Jackie Shroff.”
Arjun Kapoor Reflects on Childhood and Family Dynamics
Arjun Kapoor, who was 10 years old when his father married Sridevi in 1996, has rarely spoken about their relationship. During the interview, he fondly recalled spending time on the film sets and highlighted how the film’s characters, including a pigeon named Django, were a significant part of his memories. Interestingly, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor were already dating while Boney was married to Arjun’s mother, Mona Shourie Kapoor. This dynamic shaped a complex family history that gained public attention over the years.
Growing Closer After Tragedy
Despite the tumultuous beginnings of their family, Arjun stood by his father and stepsisters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, when Sridevi passed away in 2018. Sridevi’s untimely demise from accidental drowning became a moment of reconciliation for the Kapoor family. In interviews, Arjun has shared how he and his sister, Anshula Kapoor, became more protective of Janhvi and Khushi, fostering a closer bond between the siblings.
Arjun Kapoor is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming romantic comedy, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, directed by Mudassar Aziz. Starring Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh alongside Arjun, the film is set to hit theaters on February 21, 2025.
