Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has completed one year since its global theatrical release, with Hombale Films and Rishab Shetty marking the anniversary by reflecting on the film’s journey and its reception. The prequel to the 2022 film expanded the world of Kantara by exploring the origins of its mythology and folklore.

On the first anniversary, Hombale Films took to social media to share a note marking the occasion and acknowledging the audience response to the film. The production house wrote, “1 Year Of Divine Blockbuster #KantaraChapter1 A divine journey celebrating our roots, culture and traditions, made truly special by audiences across the world. Your unwavering love made this chapter an unforgettable part of our #Kantara journey.”
The anniversary also saw Rishab Shetty reflect on the challenges of making a prequel to a film that had already established a connection with audiences. Shetty discussed the responsibility of going further back into the story and expanding its world while retaining its connection to the setting and themes of the franchise. “The biggest challenge was to bring this prequel to an audience that had already showered Kantara with immense love. To give a prelude, go deeper into its roots, and tell a story that carries the soul of the land was both a responsibility and a privilege.”
The actor-filmmaker also acknowledged the contribution of the team behind the project. “My heartfelt thanks to every single member of my team who stood as my backbone.” Reflecting on the response after the film’s release, Shetty recalled the audience reactions as one of the notable moments from the journey. “The satisfaction I saw on the faces of the audience is still fresh in my mind. That moment, that silence, that applause, and the love that followed will always remain special to me.”
Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 served as a prequel to the 2022 release and went further back into the world that formed the foundation of the original story. The film combined its narrative around folklore and the region’s cultural traditions with large-scale action and music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.
Looking ahead, Shetty also expressed his hope that audiences would continue to support the team’s future work. “I hope that your love, blessings, and support will continue to be with us in the same way for all our future efforts,” he shared. Summing up the larger journey of the franchise, Shetty wrote, “Five years… Two stories… One dream… An unforgettable journey. I will forever be grateful for all your love.”
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also returned as the lead actor, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 featured Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in key roles. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, the film was set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka during the ancient Kadamba era.
The anniversary comes as the Kantara franchise now comprises the original 2022 film and its prequel, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, which expanded the narrative by delving into its earlier history and setting.

Roadies REBIRTH is set to return with its 21st season, introducing a new format that brings six Gang Leaders together across two teams. JioHotstar and MTV will stream the adventure reality show from October 16, with episodes airing every Friday and Saturday at 7 PM.

The upcoming season features three OG Gang Leaders — Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia and Prince Narula — competing against the NewGs, comprising Abhishek Malhan, Bani J and Baseer Ali. The new format brings together different generations of Roadies leaders, with their contrasting personalities and approaches expected to shape the competition.
A recently released promo offers a glimpse into the preparations of the Gang Leaders ahead of the new journey. Host Rannvijay Singha connects with the OGs and NewGs over a video call to check on how they are preparing for the season.
In the promo, Neha, Nikhil and Prince are seen working out at a gym. However, a bench-press attempt does not go as planned, leading to a humorous moment. The NewGs also get into the fitness challenge, with Bani and Baseer attempting push-ups before Abhishek joins them. Their challenge also ends on a light note after they struggle to stay in sync.
The promo also highlights the equation between Prince and Neha. Their exchanges bring a playful element to the preparations, with Prince trying to help Neha while seemingly adding to the confusion. Neha also takes a dig at Prince’s general knowledge skills.
Meanwhile, Bani, Baseer and Abhishek are shown navigating their own dynamic as they prepare to take on the Roadies journey together. The promo gives a glimpse of the differences between the OGs and NewGs, with the former bringing their experience from previous seasons and the latter bringing a different approach to the competition.
Speaking about the new format, host Rannvijay Singha says, “That’s the attitude we need, because this time the fight is going to be tough. You all know that this time on Roadies REBIRTH, there are two gangs but six people running the game. Three OGs will face three NewGs and this is a dynamic we’ve never seen before on Roadies. The real journey is about to begin, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the Roadies journey!”
With six Gang Leaders divided between two teams, Roadies REBIRTH will introduce a different leadership structure as the contestants compete through challenges involving strategy, alliances and survival.

Actor Rasika Dugal underwent four months of piano training for her upcoming film Little Thomas, learning to play intricate classical compositions while simultaneously working on another project. As part of her preparation, the actor even carried a portable keyboard to her other shoot and practised between takes.

Directed by Kaushal Oza and co-starring Gulshan Devaiah, Little Thomas explores the quiet rhythms and everyday chaos of a Goan family. Dugal plays Jessie Miranda, a character with a deep connection to music. To prepare for the role, the actor learned around 45 seconds of complex piano pieces by composers Mozart, Schumann and Chopin.
Speaking about the challenge of learning the instrument from scratch, Dugal said, “These are masters, and I didn’t even know how to get both my hands to play different things at the same time! So, yes, 45 seconds turned out to be quite a task! But it was a challenging and beautiful one.”
Dugal trained under piano instructor Nitesh Dean, focusing on coordinating both hands while playing. Her preparation coincided with another project she was filming, which required her to find time to practise alongside her shooting schedule.
“I was also filming something else at the time, and anyone who has learnt the piano will tell you that even one day of not practising can feel like a setback. So I carried a keyboard with me on shoot and happily played away between filming scenes of a horror show! So Jessies love for playing the piano became more a part of my prep work than Kaushal and I intended it to be. But it really gave me an entry into a world that I didn’t know so well. And led to one very poignant moment in the film.”
Through the process, Dugal said the piano practice became an important part of understanding Jessie and her relationship with music. What began as preparation for a specific sequence eventually became a way for the actor to connect more closely with a part of the character’s world.
Little Thomas is scheduled to release on October 23. The film is produced by Luminoso Pictures, Civic Studios, Good Bad Films, Ranjan Singh’s Flip Films and Anurag Kashyap.

Jeremy Strong is set to portray Mark Zuckerberg in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming film The Social Reckoning, and the actor has revealed that he reached out to the Facebook co-founder before beginning work on the film. Strong said he emailed Zuckerberg to explain that he was taking the responsibility of portraying him seriously and intended to approach the role with respect.

In a recent conversation with GQ, Strong discussed the challenges of playing a real-life figure who has been the subject of considerable public criticism. The actor said he did not want to approach the character with a predetermined judgment.
“Listen, I know that he is a reviled person and not a popular person in our culture, but I do not think you should have an actor playing him who wants to set out to condemn him,” he told GQ. “It feels incredibly fraught to talk about the movie, to talk about Mark and being the person who is playing Mark and representing Mark in a sense to the world and to posterity; I feel an enormous sense of weight and responsibility. And listen, my job is to understand and defend his point of view and fight his fight.”
Strong subsequently revealed that he decided to contact Zuckerberg directly before filming. “I wrote to him—I’m probably going to give Sony an aneurysm—I sent him an email,” he shared and added, “Just to say that I take this responsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously, and I’m approaching it with respect.” According to Strong, Zuckerberg did respond to the email. However, the actor chose not to disclose the details of their correspondence, leaving the nature of their exchange private.
Directed by Aaron Sorkin, The Social Reckoning draws from the events surrounding The Wall Street Journal’s 2021 investigative series, The Facebook Files. The film follows Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, a young Facebook engineer who turns whistleblower, and Jeff Horwitz, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, the Wall Street Journal reporter who works with her to investigate the social network.
Jeremy Strong plays Zuckerberg in the film, which looks at the events and revelations surrounding Facebook and the people involved in bringing its internal practices to public attention.
The Social Reckoning is scheduled to release in theatres on October 9. Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release the film exclusively in English across Indian cinemas.

Shweta also spoke about the emotional response she received from people after returning from Atlanta. Microdramas are no longer being discussed only inside startup offices and short-video companies. The format is now entering one of India’s most influential mainstream entertainment-industry forums.

FICCI FRAMES 2026, to be held in Mumbai on September 29 and 30, has included a dedicated session titled Microdrama, Mega Business: The Next Content Disruption in its programme. The panel will examine how snackable fiction, creator-led series and platform-first originals are changing content creation, distribution and monetisation.
Significantly, the discussion brings together representatives from different parts of the emerging ecosystem — Meta, Zee Entertainment’s BULLET Microdrama, Eloelo Group, Kuku and the creative community.
That places microdramas on an agenda otherwise populated by some of India’s biggest entertainment names. FICCI FRAMES 2026 will feature discussions involving Ayushmann Khurrana, Ekta Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and senior executives from JioStar, Zee, Netflix, Prime Video, Sony Pictures Networks India and Dharma Productions. Separate sessions will examine cinema, reality television, AI and copyright, regional storytelling, streaming and the creator economy.
Six months ago, vertical fiction could reasonably have been dismissed as another short-video experiment. Now India’s established studios, broadcasters, creators, advertisers and investors are debating whether it represents a distinct entertainment business.
The inclusion of a dedicated microdrama session at FICCI FRAMES therefore feels significant. The conversation around the format is clearly shifting from whether audiences will embrace 60-90 second fiction to how large the business can become, who will control the most valuable IP and talent, and what role platforms, studios, advertisers and technology companies will play in shaping its future. If the current momentum continues, microdramas may soon cease to be treated as a side experiment in short-form video and emerge as a distinct pillar of India’s entertainment ecosystem.

Hanuman Ansh continued its remarkable theatrical run, adding Rs. 2.37 crores to its India net collection on Day 50. The film’s latest collection takes its cumulative total to Rs. 283.61 crores, with the movie continuing to attract theatrical business even after completing seven weeks.

Interestingly, the Day 50 collection represents a 10.23% jump over Thursday’s Rs. 2.15 crores. While most films experience a significant slowdown deep into their theatrical runs, Hanuman Ansh continues to record sizeable daily collections, allowing its overall total to keep moving upwards.
The film had already established a strong foundation during its initial weeks before maintaining its momentum through subsequent phases of its run. It closed Week 6 at Rs. 241.83 crores and Week 7 at Rs. 281.24 crores, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The addition of Rs. 2.37 crores on Day 50 means that the film has now added another Rs. 2.37 crores to its Week 8 total, taking its overall collection to Rs. 283.61 crores.
The film’s continued performance is particularly notable because it has sustained theatrical business well beyond the traditional opening weeks. Its latest Friday number also indicates that the film has been able to maintain a certain level of audience interest even this deep into its theatrical run.
With Saturday and Sunday still to come, the film will now look to build on Friday’s growth and add further to its Week 8 total.
Hanuman Ansh has currently collected Rs. 283.61 crores in India after 50 days. The film’s next target will be to continue adding to the total as it enters the next phase of its theatrical run.

Daayra had collected Rs. 0.94 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs. 1.41 crore on Saturday and Rs. 1.39 crore on Sunday. The film’s opening weekend consequently stood at Rs. 3.77 crores. It subsequently added to its tally during the first week before reaching Rs. 5.34 crores after eight days.
The Friday figure of Rs. 0.09 crore takes the film’s second-week total to Rs. 0.09 crore so far. With the second weekend now underway, Saturday and Sunday will provide an opportunity for the film to register some growth over its Friday business.
The film’s first weekend had seen a notable jump over its opening-day figure, with Saturday and Sunday contributing the bulk of the initial theatrical collections. Its performance over the second weekend will now determine how much additional business it can generate before entering the latter half of its second week.
At present, Daayra stands at Rs. 5.34 crores in India after eight days. The film added Rs. 0.09 crore on Friday and will now look towards the weekend to build on its current total.

Tamannaah Bhatia has added another brand association to her growing portfolio. The actress has been named the face of Joy Personal Care’s lotion and cream portfolio, with the partnership led by the brand’s Honey & Almonds Deep Nourishing Body Lotion.

The association will see Tamannaah feature in a multi-platform campaign spanning television, digital and social media. The campaign is built around Joy Personal Care’s ‘Beautiful by Nature’ philosophy, which looks to move away from conventional ideas and definitions of beauty.
Speaking about the association, Sunil Agarwal, co-founder and chairman, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), said that the brand has grown from a homegrown skincare name into a larger personal care player while retaining its focus on what consumers value. He described the partnership with Tamannaah as an important step as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the lotion and cream category and connect with a new generation of consumers.
Agarwal also highlighted the role of the Honey & Almonds Body Lotion within the brand’s lotion portfolio. According to him, the association with Tamannaah gives the brand an opportunity to build on the product’s existing equity while bringing a fresh perspective to the category. He added that the company’s focus remains on products that combine quality, relevance and affordability for Indian consumers.
Poulomi Roy, chief marketing officer, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), spoke about the thinking behind the campaign and said that beauty has often been presented to women through a narrow lens, defining how they should look and what they should aspire to be. She explained that ‘Beautiful by Nature’ seeks to challenge that idea and encourage women to embrace their individuality rather than conform to a particular mould.
Roy further said that Tamannaah brings the philosophy to life through her individuality, personal journey and ability to remain true to herself while continuing to evolve.
For Tamannaah, the association comes from a more personal understanding of beauty. The actress said that she has always appreciated how beauty can have a different meaning for different people. She added that, over the years, she has learnt to embrace that perspective and enjoy the journey instead of chasing an idea of perfection. According to Tamannaah, this approach was among the reasons she connected with Joy Personal Care and was keen to bring the thought behind the campaign to life.
On the work front, Tamannaah Bhatia is currently excited about the response for her recent release The Vvaan co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and an ensemble cast. It hit cinemas on September 25. Meanwhile, the actress is also balancing her role as an entrepreneur after starting her own jewellery line.

Aditi Rao Hydari has been receiving attention for her performance in the recently released Lust Stories 3, in which she plays Saira, a woman navigating desire, intimacy and female pleasure while also dealing with the emotional dynamics within her family. One of the important relationships in her story is the bond she shares with her father-in-law, played by Gajraj Rao.

Speaking about the relationship portrayed in the film, Hydari said the father-in-law character stood out to her because of the understanding and support he extends to Saira. She also credited director R. Balki’s interpretation and Rao’s presence for adding emotional depth to their scenes.
“What was written on paper was very beautiful. But obviously, when the director comes in and peppers it with their understanding of what it is, and you have an actor like Gajraj Rao in front of you – I think for me, it was very tender. I think what really struck me in the story was the progressive nature of that family, where the father-in-law is an ally to this girl. Because everybody says, ये तो हमारे घर की बच्ची है, ये तो हमारी बेटी है. But to actually feel like you have a confidant in a father-in-law in 1987, I think that’s absolutely wonderful. Like I always say, this is yesterday actually it struck me that this is kind of almost like an ideal love story, where there are unfulfilled desires, but they’re all unfulfilled with a lot of love,” she explained simply.
Hydari also spoke about the role of creativity in helping women find their voice. She said she appreciated the way Saira receives support from both her husband and father-in-law as she explores her artistic side through different forms of expression.
“For a girl to be able to find their courage through artistry, I find that very incredible as well. For both the husband and the father-in-law to be allies in this is so beautiful, whether it’s through dance, music, writing, poetry, literature. Even for girls and for all of us, that is our voice. And that really gives us a wholesomeness that is ours. I find that very wonderful generally in life. So I really liked that that scene was really so tender. My father passed away much earlier than he should have. He was not well. And for me, any scene between a parent and a child then becomes very… very… it just means so much more. So it was very, very moving. It was very beautiful,” she added.
Through Saira, Hydari explores different facets of womanhood, including desire, intimacy and self-expression. The relationship between Saira and her father-in-law adds another emotional layer to the story, while Hydari’s personal experience with the loss of her father made the parent-child moments particularly meaningful for her.
The film also looks at how family relationships can offer support as individuals navigate their personal identities and aspirations. For Hydari, the emotional connection attached to these scenes made her experience of portraying them especially personal.

At first glance, Amitabh Bachchan’s latest Hurun India Rich List numbers don’t look like a setback. His wealth has actually increased. But put last year’s figure next to this year’s, and the bigger story becomes clear: the Big B is still getting richer, just not as quickly as the names around him.

On last year’s Hurun list, Amitabh Bachchan and his family were estimated to be worth Rs. 1,600 crore, placing them fourth among Bollywood’s wealthiest names. Karan Johar, at Rs. 1,400 crore, was fifth, Rs. 200 crore behind Bachchan.
A year later, Bachchan’s estimated wealth has edged up to Rs. 1,630 crore. That’s an increase of Rs. 30 crore, or roughly 1.9%. On its own, it is still growth. But the change becomes more significant when compared with Johar’s numbers.
Karan Johar’s fortune has jumped from Rs. 1,400 crore to Rs. 1,880 crore in the same period an increase of Rs. 480 crore, or more than 34%. That completely erased the Rs. 200 crore gap between the two and created a new one in the opposite direction. Johar now sits Rs. 250 crore ahead of Bachchan and has moved from fifth to fourth, while the veteran superstar has slipped to fifth.
That makes Bachchan’s story less about losing wealth and more about the pace at which others have added to theirs.
His Rs. 1,630 crore fortune remains higher than last year’s Rs. 1,600 crore figure, but the increase is modest compared with the jumps recorded by some of the other Bollywood names on the list. Shah Rukh Khan’s wealth has surged dramatically, Juhi Chawla has recorded a substantial rise, and Johar’s latest figure has been boosted during a period that included the monetisation of part of his stake in Dharma Productions.
For Bachchan, the latest Hurun numbers instead reflect the long-term nature of a career and wealth portfolio built over decades. There hasn’t been a comparable single transaction driving his year-on-year movement.
And that is what makes the comparison with Johar particularly interesting.
2024: Bachchan Rs. 1,600 crore, Johar Rs. 1,400 crore.
2025: Bachchan Rs. 1,630 crore, Johar Rs. 1,880 crore.
Bachchan’s fortune grew by Rs. 30 crore. Johar’s grew by Rs. 480 crore.
The Big B hasn’t become poorer. The numbers simply show that, over the past year, Karan Johar’s fortune grew considerably faster.

The music launch holds added significance for Sharvari as Yeh Prem Mol Liya marks her first collaboration with filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The film explores themes of family, emotions and music, making the Royal Opera House a fitting setting for the launch of its music.

Veteran artiste Raghubir Yadav has a pivotal role in Om Ka Hari, which released in theatres on Friday September 18. Directed by Harish Vyas, the movie sees the actor play father to Anshuman Jha, who has also produced the film under his banner First Ray Films. The movie explores a bitter-sweet conflict between a father and his son. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Yadav said that he agreed to do the film as he has witnessed such scenarios before.

“I have stayed a lot in a lot of villages in UP (Uttar Pradesh), MP (Madhya Pradesh) and Bihar. I have been witnessing this relationship between a father and his kids since ages. Earlier, it was different and then things started changing. In our era, people didn’t have much money to study. A father used to somehow educate his children and take them to a level. He then would look at the son of his neighbour and get his son also to become an engineer and get married.”
Yadav pointed out that now, of course, things have changed. “Now the time is such that kids wish to live their lives as per their own wishes,” he said. “So, I found this conflict between a father and a son very interesting. I got a chance to become a father of this era.”
Om Ka Hari also stars Soni Razdan in the role of Yadav’s wife, along with Ayesha Kapur and Samta Sudiksha.
Yadav also found other characteristics of the father interesting. “He is someone who realizes that the one he thought would provide him with support (his son) is having a conflict with him. He is also well-versed with astrology, so he realizes that he has only six more days to live. The character has a funny side and some conflict as well. So, I thought it would be fun to do it,” he said.
A large portion of the film was shot in Varanasi and its ghats. “It was great fun,” recalled Yadav. “When we shot at the Harishchandra Ghat, we felt this is such a peaceful place. In our film, the father reaches that place to die. The ones who were getting burnt appeared to be more peaceful (laughs).”
Yadav has played various characters in his decades long career. When asked about his selection criteria, he simply said, “It should be something I have never done before. It should challenge me. I don’t enjoy if I am able to do it easily. It should give me sleepless nights (laughs). Doobne mein maza aata hai mujhe.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved a historic milestone at the Indian box office. The Hollywood biggie has crossed the coveted Rs. 500 crore mark in India during its sixth weekend, becoming the first-ever Hollywood film to breach the milestone in the country.

The film, which opened to a record-breaking response, has maintained remarkable momentum through its theatrical run. Despite entering its sixth weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued to attract audiences, collecting Rs. 43 lakh on Friday, Rs. 72 lakh on Saturday and Rs. 83 lakh on Sunday. With this, the film’s Weekend 6 total stands at Rs. 1.98 crore, taking its overall India nett collection to Rs. 500.21 crore.
The film’s journey to the Rs. 500 crore milestone has been particularly noteworthy. Released on Thursday, its extended first week of eight days brought in a massive Rs. 336 crore. It followed that up with Rs. 111.78 crore in Week 2, while Week 3 contributed another Rs. 31.70 crore. The film continued to hold remarkably well in the subsequent weeks, adding Rs. 12.46 crore in Week 4 and Rs. 6.29 crore in Week 5.
What makes the achievement even more significant is the film’s ability to sustain its theatrical run well beyond the initial frenzy surrounding its release. The steady collections across six weekends underline the franchise’s strong pull among Indian audiences.
With Rs. 500.21 crore in India nett collections across all versions, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now firmly established itself as an all-time blockbuster in the Indian market and has set a new benchmark for Hollywood releases.

The weekend began on a positive note for fans of Golmaal. The release date of the much-awaited next instalment, Golmaal 5, has finally been announced – January 8, 2027. An entertaining motion poster featuring the principal cast was unveiled as well. Interestingly, Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017) were all Diwali releases. Hence, Golmaal 5, much like Golmaal (2006), will arrive in cinemas without the advantage of a major festival holiday. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that considerable thought has gone into choosing the January 8 date, with the Gujarat factor playing an important role.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Rohit Shetty has been toying with the idea of bringing Golmaal 5 for many months in January. He realized that by January 8, most of the audiences would have consumed the December biggies like King, Avengers: Doomsday, etc. and would be ready to watch his film. Secondly, all films of Rohit Shetty have done extraordinary business in Gujarat. The state will have a huge holiday of Makar Sankranti on Thursday, January 14. January 15 will also be a holiday of sorts. Hence, the makers of Golmaal 5 expect a huge boost in the second week, courtesy Gujarat.”
The trade source also said, “It is for this reason that Rohit and Ajay Devgn also toyed with the idea of releasing Golmaal 5 on January 14. However, Love & War releases a week later, on January 21. With a release on January 8, they’ll be able to now enjoy a clean two-week run.”
Rohit Shetty and Gujarat – a match made in heaven
Since the beginning, Rohit Shetty’s films have performed well in Gujarat, but this phenomenon became particularly evident with Singham (2011). On the day the Ajay Devgn-starrer released, Bollywood Hungama reported, “What really came as a surprise was that at a cineplex in Ahmedabad, the audience gave a standing ovation to the film after the show concluded.” This was significant as Singham predominantly had a Marathi flavour, and yet, it was embraced wholeheartedly by audiences in Gujarat right from the first day.
Later, Golmaal Again set all-time records in centres like Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, etc. It was one of only four films in 2017 to cross the Rs. 30 crore mark in the Gujarat/Saurashtra circuit, alongside Baahubali 2, Raees and Tiger Zinda Hai. The rest of the films that year could not even cross the Rs. 15 crore mark in the circuit.
Sooryavanshi (2021), meanwhile, released amid the Covid-19 pandemic when cinemas were operating with 50% occupancy restrictions. While its opening was impressive across India, its performance in Gujarat was extraordinary. Within just six days, it had surpassed the lifetime collections of films like Simmba, Kabir Singh and Dhoom 3 in the Gujarat/Saurashtra circuit, before going on to overtake several other major blockbusters in the region.
