The heartwarming film Little Thomas released this Friday, October 23, and it revolves around a simple yet amusing premise – a young boy trying to find out where babies come from! At the trailer launch, lead actor Gulshan Devaiah was asked whether he, too, had ever gone to great lengths to find the answer to a question. The actor, in his trademark entertaining style, replied, “I did something in Class 5, but I can’t say it here. Thoda non-veg variety ka hai! Yeh kisi podcast mein bataunga main. Yahaan pe Reel accha nahin katega. Podcast ka Reel accha katega! (laughs).”

Bollywood Hungama recently spoke exclusively to Gulshan Devaiah and requested him to reveal what exactly happened in Class 5, even though we weren’t conducting a podcast with him! The actor was gracious enough to share the hilarious incident.
Gulshan Devaiah began by saying, “There was a kid in my class who abused another student. But he said, ‘You bloody basket’! The kid who got abused complained to the class teacher. She scolded the guy who abused and told him, ‘How dare you talk like this? A certain decorum needs to be maintained in school’. Since it was a convent school, toh angrezi mein hi daant padti thi!”
He continued, “I was listening to the scolding and thought, kuch toh gadbad hai. So, I raised my hand. The teacher asked, ‘Yes, Gulshan?’. I said, ‘He said bloody basket. That’s not really a bad word. Bloody b*****d is the correct term’ (laughs). The teacher was shocked and retorted, ‘No, bloody basket is an abuse. Sit down’!”
Gulshan Devaiah laughed as he further revealed, “Baat wahaan khatam nahin hui. I was sure that it was ‘Bloody b*****d’. I had heard it in films and also in real life. I guess my father had also uttered the abuse in a traffic jam! So, I asked my mother and told her how I had corrected my teacher (laughs). I asked my mother, ‘Is bloody basket a gaali or bloody b*****d?’. This was also the time when I didn’t know the meaning of b*****d.”
He concluded, “My mother heard me and advised, ‘Aisi baatein tu school mein mat kiya kar. Bahut problem hogi. Jo bhi teacher keh rahi hai, tu bas haan-haan kar’ (laughs). Many years later, I got to know the meaning of b*****d. That’s when I understood why everyone was so uncomfortable. Hence, I couldn’t say this in front of my kids that day.”
