Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 trailer launch: After Zakir Khan and Siddharth Anand, now Medha Shankr jumps into Bandra-Juhu bandwagon: “There was a POV that romcoms Bandra-Juhu type honi chahiye, jisme Bumble aur Tinder…”

Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr, producer Vinod Bachchan and director Prasshant Jha attended the trailer launch of their film Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 at a multiplex in Mumbai. The Bandra-Juhu discourse is in the news nowadays after Zakir Khan spoke about it at the Screen Awards 2026. He joked about how filmmakers located between Bandra and Juhu in Mumbai are jealous of Dhurandhar’s historic success. However, it also led to backlash, which was also from the film industry. The most prominent celebrity to make his displeasure clear was Siddharth Anand of War, Pathaan and Fighter fame. This added to the chatter around it.

Now, Medha Shankr has also spoken about the Bandra-Juhu idea, but in a different context. She said, “As Avinash said, there are barely any films that the whole family can watch together. I also feel that there’s a point of view that romcoms Bandra-Juhu type honi chahiye ya bahut hi modern honi chahiye, jisme Bumble aur Tinder chal raha ho.”

She continued, “But honestly, even Gen Z is also looking for old school love and involvement of families in their relationships. Deep down, we all want a wholesome bond that goes on till the end. Hence, I feel that more and more romcoms should be made. Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is an attempt on those lines. It is a very relatable love story. It shows involvement of families. You’ll see it and hopefully feel ‘Yeh dating apps hatao…iss tarah ka pyaar chahiye’! I hope people see that in our film.”

Meanwhile, Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr made an entry on a bike which had the ‘Just Married’ tag. They also indulged in a couple of wedding-related ceremonies, going by the theme of the film. Before the Q-and-A round with the media, creative producer Soundarya Bachchan, producer Umesh Kumar Bansal of Zee Studios and others also came on stage. Vinod spoke highly of his daughter, Soundarya.

Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 releases in cinemas on April 24.
