Actor Zendaya has revealed that she watched the entire The Twilight Saga before beginning work on her upcoming film The Drama, which also stars Robert Pattinson. The film is scheduled to release in India on April 3.

Ahead of stepping onto the set, Zendaya chose to revisit the widely popular franchise featuring Pattinson, approaching it from a fresh perspective. Rather than watching it through the lens of nostalgia, she focused on understanding its cultural impact, characters and emotional tone, aiming to build a stronger connection with the world her co-star had been part of.
Speaking in a recent interview, Zendaya said, “I was like, ‘How have I never seen these movies before?’ But I felt like I had to, it’s like a cultural kind of phenomenon that I hadn’t been a part of yet. I watched all of them in like a day. It was great, I enjoyed myself”. The actor also spoke about her experience working on The Drama, describing the film’s characters and relationships as layered and unconventional. Reflecting on the narrative, she shared, “These characters are unique. They’re very unique people and the circumstance is quite unique and it reveals a lot about love, about what we’re willing to do for love, what we’re willing to accept, and how much you really know your partner”.
Reports suggest that Pattinson was equally appreciative of Zendaya’s effort to familiarise herself with his earlier work. Commenting on the same, he said, “It’s interesting, (she’s like) ‘Just got to see what he’s about. She liked them apparently. She watched all five in two days, that’s impressive”. He also spoke positively about their collaboration, adding, “It was so fun, I love working with her. I think she’s great and I’d do it again and again”.
The Drama is already generating interest as it brings together two globally recognised actors for the first time. The film explores modern relationships and the complexities that come with them, focusing on how emotions, expectations and realities intersect. It delves into themes of love, conflict and perception, examining what happens when personal relationships begin to blur with the versions presented to the outside world.
With its focus on emotional dynamics and contemporary relationship challenges, The Drama is positioned as a character-driven narrative that aims to resonate with audiences ahead of its release in India by PVRINOX Pictures on April 3.
