Mona Singh recalls the challenge of shooting the climax dance of The Ba***ds of Bollywood in Shah Rukh Khan’s presence: “I told Aryan, ‘I can’t dance like this in front of your dad!’”

Actor Mona Singh has opened up about the challenges she faced while filming the climax dance sequence of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, calling it one of the most demanding moments of the shoot. Known for her versatility across genres, Mona revealed how the sudden shift in tone made the experience particularly challenging.

The actress shared that she had just wrapped up shooting for the intense and gritty world of Kohrra Season 2, and stepping into a high-energy dance sequence immediately after was far from easy. Adjusting both mentally and physically to such a contrasting requirement proved to be a task.

Adding to the pressure was the unexpected presence of superstar Shah Rukh Khan on the sets. His encouraging presence, while heartwarming, made Mona feel even more conscious during the performance. The show, directed by Aryan Khan, demanded precision and energy, which the actor had to quickly adapt to.

Recounting the experience, Mona told SCREEN, “I was coming from a very different world when I was asked to shoot the climax. I’d just finished shooting Kohrra Season 2. So, I was coming from such a dark, gritty world and suddenly thrown into this climax. I was like, ‘Okay, just give me a minute’. And Shah Rukh Khan was also there on set. He was cheering me on, ‘Come on, Mona!’ I was dying. He was shooting for an ad in the same studio, so he came to visit. I told Aryan, ‘I can’t dance like this in front of your dad!’ It did feel like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa all over again. It was a lot of fun, but it was a little tricky because Bobby Deol wasn’t really shooting with us. We had to match the steps and everything was done on VFX later.”

Apart from Mona and Bobby, The Ba***ds of Bollywood also starred Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anyaa Singh, Rajat Bedi among others.
