An unexpected incident took place with singer Kanika Kapoor at the Me’Gong Festival 2025 in Meghalaya, raising questions about on-stage security for performers. Kanika was in the middle of her set on Sunday night when a fan from the crowd suddenly climbed onto the stage and grabbed her legs.
Security personnel immediately intervened and pulled the individual away, leaving both the audience and the singer visibly startled. Despite the shock, Kanika continued her performance without stopping, earning appreciation from fans for her professionalism.
The incident sparked concern online, with several social media users criticizing the lack of proper crowd control. One user wrote, “In India, women are not safe even on stage in front of so many people.” Another commented, “Such behaviour is unacceptable. People like this should face strict action.”
This episode added to a growing list of recent incidents where performers were approached or disrupted by fans in public settings. Actor Ariana Grande experienced a similar moment at the premiere of Totally Wicked, when a fan rushed toward her before co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly stepped in. At the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, an intruder attempted to push toward the stage during Tyga’s performance, prompting immediate security action and resulting in a guard accidentally colliding with the rapper.
In another instance, during the Rolling Loud India concert in Mumbai, singer Karan Aujla was struck in the face by a T-shirt thrown from the crowd. He handled the situation calmly, picking up the T-shirt, wiping his face, and tossing it back toward the audience.
The series of events has renewed discussion around strengthening security measures at concerts and festivals to ensure artists can perform safely and without interruptions.
