Bollywood’s iconic song ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ from the film Om Shanti Om is memorable for many reasons, but one of its most charming stories comes from behind the scenes. Recently, Farah Khan and Manish Malhotra took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, revealing how they enticed female actors to shoot for the song with the promise of free Manish Malhotra outfits. Farah shared that Manish personally met every heroine to seal the deal, showcasing his dedication and charm in making the star-studded song possible.
Farah Khan reminisced about Manish Malhotra’s key role in the film’s costume design, especially for Deepika Padukone’s looks. Manish fondly recalled his inspiration from the Amitabh Bachchan star-studded song ‘John Jaani Janardhan’ in Naseeb and his dream of having so many actors together, which was realised in ‘Deewangi Deewangi’. “Ironically, ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ gave me that,” said the ace designer.
Farah further added, “‘Deewangi Deewangi’ was inspired by there only. Manish was not only a part of the song, but he also came with me to meet every heroine who was in that song. I had enticed the actresses who featured in the song that Manish would make their costumes, and they could keep them after the shoot.”
On the work front, Manish Malhotra has ventured into film production with his maiden project, Gustaakh Ishq, which is set to hit theatres on November 28, 2025. Directed by Vibhu Puri, this romantic drama stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vijay Varma, Sharib Hashmi, and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles. The film has already garnered buzz for its soulful music and classic love story. Currently, Manish is busy with the promotions of Gustaakh Ishq, marking an exciting new chapter beyond his illustrious career as a fashion designer.
