It has been thirteen years since the debut of the film Student of the Year, which introduced Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. The trio marked the anniversary on 19 October, celebrating the journey that began with Karan Johar’s directorial in 2012.
Fans of the film honoured the milestone by flooding social media with throwback stills from the movie, re-singing the hit tracks and posting heartfelt messages. The actors themselves acknowledged this outpouring of love by reposting several fan tributes.
The production house, Dharma Productions, joined in the celebration by posting a commemorative reel on its official Instagram account that read, “13 years later, everyone is still in ‘ishq wala love’ with these students! Celebrating 13YearsOfSOTY.”

In the comments section of the post, Alia’s mother, veteran actor Soni Razdan, reacted with the simple but affectionate line, “Special for sure.”
Reflecting on its cast, the article notes that the film also featured industry names such as Rishi Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Ram Kapoor, Farida Jalal, Sahil Anand and Ronit Roy.
In the film’s storyline, Varun portrayed the wealthy, antagonistic “rich bully”, while Sidharth played the likable over-achiever; Alia’s character was the affluent yet emotionally grounded girl, more interested in relationships than brands.
Since that debut, all three actors have gone on to build substantial careers in Bollywood, delivering memorable performances and becoming household names.
