From the pandemic to a busy schedule, the much-awaited film Vaadivasal, which was announced with much hoopla, had to experience several obstacles and challenges leaving Suriya fans disappointed. Now after a long wait of five years, however, the movie is expected to be revived and this Pongal, the reunion of the actor with the filmmaker Vetrimaaran and producer Kalaippuli S Thanu proved to be its catalyst.
Producer drops hint about Vaadivaasal on social media
With celebrities ringing in multiple festivities on January 14, the Tamil community celebrated Pongal. Among them was Suriya who was seen meeting Kalaippuli S. Thanu and Vetrimaaran for the occasion. Sharing a photo of the trio in the quintessential traditional veshti and shirt on his social media handle on X (formerly known as Twitter), Thanu captioned it in Tamil saying, “the Vaadivaasal is open to the blessing of the world”. Fans celebrated this moment by sharing their excitement as the highly-anticipated project is expected to be kick started soon.

Suriya and Vetrimaaran are yet to announce further details
While this announcement has sparked excitement among netizens, the makers have not shared any details of the film. Also, it needs to be considered that the actor and filmmaker have projects in the pipeline. While Suriya is currently busy wrapping up Retro co-starring Pooja Hegde, Vetrimaaran has announced an untitled project with Dhanush. However, it is yet to be revealed as to which project will go on floors first.

Fans of the superstar are eagerly waiting to see him play an action-packed gangster in this period drama that will explore his chemistry with Pooja Hegde for the first time. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced under the banner Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, the film also features an ensemble cast of Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Remya Suresh and George Maryan in key roles. It is slated to release on May 1, 2025.
