Vicky Kaushal, who is currently promoting the romantic comedy Bad Newz, promises a stark contrast with Chhava. In a recent conversation with Film Companion, Kaushal hinted at the emotional and physical intensity of Chhava, calling it “probably the film that’s taken the most out of me.”
Kaushal steps into the shoes of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the legendary Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, in this historical epic. “It’s probably the film that’s taken the most out of me physically, emotionally. It was that kind of potent film in its drama, emotions, and everything.”
The prospect of portraying such a revered figure is a fresh challenge for the actor. “I’ve never done anything like this before,” he confesses.
Beyond the historical significance, Kaushal delves into the film’s dramatic core. “There’s a Shakespearean drama” to it, he added, hinting at themes of power, legacy, and perhaps even filial conflict.
Kaushal’s dedication is evident in his anticipation of the final product. “I’m really looking forward to seeing how it finally plays out,” he concludes.
Chhava, produced by Maddock Films, also stars Rashmika Mandanna. The film is currently under post-production.
Meanwhile, the actor will star in Bad Newz, alongside Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the film will release on July 19.
