Celeb-entrepreneur, Kriti Sanon, Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer of the new-aged skincare brand HYPHEN hosted a beach-themed Sundowner at Estella in Juhu on Tuesday, April 9. Overlooking the vast Arabian Sea, the event spectacularly brought in the summer beachy vibes with the brand’s recently launched new Ultra-Light Water Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++++ and marked the presence of renowned media personnel and influencers.

At the sundowner, Kriti Sanon personally interacted with the beauty and skincare enthusiasts that the event brought together under one roof. The occasion saw the actor-turned-entrepreneur have productive discussions about skincare and beauty with them. Furthermore, the “Beachy Theme” of the event was perfect to welcome the summer season and was in line with the launch of their latest range of sunscreen. This launch comes after the success of the first sunscreen launched in July, wherein consumers demanded another variation in the sunscreen that is lightweight. SCOOP: KGF star Yash comes on board Ramayan as actor and producer

Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan, has been given a formal remuneration and is not part of Tiwari’s Ramayan in any other capacity than an actor. However, reports suggesting that Ranbir has been paid a certain amount (Rs 75 crores) is totally untrue.

“Ranbir is being paid what he deserves. The amount quoted is not correct,” said a source very close to the project.

Another superstar, this one from Karnataka, Yash finally agreed to come on board for the sprawling universe being created for the Ramayan on condition that he be given the position of a producer on the project.

Said a source clued in to the development, “Yash desisted the offer to play Raavan for a long time. He agreed finally only as a producer. Rather than accept a fee (of around Rs. 80 crores) he agreed to come on board as a producer.”

Yash will finish his film Malayalam film Toxic with Geetu Mohandas and then plunge in the role of Raavan.

Mysuru court stays the release of Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan; Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor issue statement

Based on the real-life story of renowned football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, Maidaan was one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year. However, the Ajay Devgn starrer has landed itself in trouble after the release of the film was stayed by the Mysuru court over alleged plagiarism charges. A Kannada scriptwriter named Anil Kumar took to social media to claim that he had written the script of the film and did not get any credit for the same.

In his version of the story, Kumar explained that he had submitted a copy of the script to Sukhdas Suryavanshi, who incidentally is the assistant director of Maidaan. Opening up about the same, Anil Kumar wrote on Linkedin, “In 2010, I started writing the story and in 2018, I posted a poster about this, and I got in contact with ad director Sukhdas Suryavanshi through my LinkedIn post. He called me to Bombay (Mumbai) and asked me to get the script. I have the whole chat history. He told me that he’d make me meet Aamir Khan, but I couldn’t meet him for certain reasons. I gave him the story and registered the same with the Screen writers Association”. He went on to add, “Recently, I heard that a movie named Maidaan is getting released. I was surprised because even I have the same story. When I looked at the teaser and their statements, I got to know that it was my story. They have twisted the main story itself and made this movie. I named the story Paadakanduka.”

Followed by this, certain reports stated that Kumar moved the districts and sessions court in Mysuru, followed by which they decided to stay the release of the film. However, in a statement issued by producers of the film, Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP, they have asserted that the order was passed without hearing their side of the story. They shared this statement on social media which read, “We have just been served the copy of the Order of the District Judge restraining the release of the film. At the outset, we would like to place on record that the said order passed by the District Judge is an ex-parte order, without giving us an opportunity of being heard.”

They went on to write, “We were not served any notice prior to the filing of the said suit or hearing of the matter. Additionally, the said order has been passed after the release of the film and therefore, any such order passed that retrains the release of the film is infructuous under law. However, we are filing an appeal against the order before the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka. We shall move the matter before the Hon’ble High Court for urgent reliefs in order to stay the operation of the said order. Without prejudice to the aforesaid, we are taking all the steps as we have been legally advised, kindly be assured that the release of the film can continue. We shall update you regarding the further developments regarding this, once we move the matter before the Hon’ble High Court.”

Set against the backdrop of the early 1950s to 1960s, Maidaan traces the challenges, sacrifices, and triumphant moments of both Rahim and the Indian football team as they strive to etch their names on the global stage. The film released in theatres on April 10.

Producer Prerna Arora pens congratulatory note to her ‘role model’ Ektaa R Kapoor on the success of Crew

In a heartfelt open letter on social media, renowned film producer Prerna Arora expressed her admiration and support for fellow producer Ekta Kapoor, congratulating her on yet another blockbuster success with Crew starring Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu in the leads. The film has managed to rake in moolah at the box office and has become one of the few female-centric films to have acted as a massive crowd-puller in theatres post the pandemic.

As the film has even surpassed the Rs.100 Crore mark at the box office, Prerna Arora commended her ‘role model’ Ektaa R Kapoor for her achievement and highlighted the significance of having a female producer behind the success of a major film. Celebrating Ekta Kapoor, Prerna said, “Women can be behind finances and prove to be great producers apart from acting and directing. Many HATS that women can wear! Congrats to EKTA for another victory and crossing 100 crore feat. This is a much bigger victory as there is a female behind the producer’s seat, it’s easy to picture male producers with multiple 100 crore films without raising eyebrows.

Arora went on to add, “When I started backing films on important subjects, industry did have its doubts of female producers and how it can affect the numbers, but I believed in the story and went ahead anyways. It’s when my films Padman, Toilet, Rustom did well on BO, then people started believing in me.” Arora’s extensive filmography has gone on to be socially acclaimed as well as commercial box office successes.

“Females don’t have to pick a chair to sit, but get her own chair and make space! Cheers to more such female filmmakers/producers/cinematographers. So keep going! Take that step,” the producer concluded as she signed off. The open letter has been doing rounds on social media and also reached Ektaa who took to her story to thank Prerna for the sweet and encouraging gesture.

Taha Shah Badussha reveals that his role in Heeramandi was extended; says, “When I was first approached, I was given only a three-day part”

Taha Shah Badussha, who was also a part of Taj: Divided by Blood, is all set to mesmerize audiences with his portrayal of Tajdar in the highly anticipated series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The web-series, which also marks the foray of Sanjay Leela Bhansali into web-series, boasts of an extensive ensemble cast where Taha is paired up with SLB’s niece and actress Sharmin Segal. While the trailer was unveiled along with the entire cast, Taha shared an interesting tid bit about his role.

At the recent trailer launch of Heeramandi, Taha opened up about how his part was initially intended for just 3 days but later, his role was extended for much more in the series. “I have gotten this character after giving a lot of auditions. Since the last 12 years I have worked hard to get here, and now working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir is like a dream come true. I feel that Tajdar and me have a lot of resemblance. I resonate with the character. He yearns for love. He sees everything through the lenses of kindness and tries not to step over people. That’s the kind of personality he has. When I had first been approached for this role, I had just been given a 3 day part. I had signed the contract for that as well, but maybe Sanjay Sir saw something in me and decided to extend my part in the series to a  lot more than it was originally planned.”

Taha’s look as Tajdar is quite regal as it reminds you of a royal, educated, and classy man from the 1940s.

Heeramandi will star Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal in key roles along with Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Fardeen Khan in essaying supporting characters. The show will premiere on Netflix on May 1.

Arshad Warsi on playing Circuit in Munna Bhai series, “It was a risk I took, it was my destiny that Rajkumar Hirani was the director”

Rajkumar Hirani is indeed a director every actor dreams to work with. While he has given many cult entertaining films and interesting characters, one from all those is Circuit played by Arshad Warsi from Munna Bhai franchise. While the audience has a different attachment with this character of Arshad, he also has an interesting insight about the role.

The actor revealed that his portrayal of Circuit left a lasting impact on audiences, but it was also a risk that paid off due to the freedom given to him by director Rajkumar Kumar. Recently, in a recent interaction on Long Drive with Mr Faisu, Arshad Warsi shared how Circuit could have taken a different trajectory if not for the trust and creative freedom granted by director Rajkumar Hirani. He said, “Tum dekho, woh role kya tha? Villain ke peeche chaar paanch lukhhe khade hote hai na, un mese mai ek tha (What role was that? I was one of the 4-5 punks standing behind the villain). You tell me how many actors like those four guys do you remember?”

Further to this, Arshad also talked about Circuit being a turning point in his career, saying, “It was a risk that I took. It was my destiny that I had Raju with me as a director and Sanju as my co-actor. Vidhu Vinod Chopra had clearly told me that I would be one of the four goons with slightly extra lines. He was very honest. I knew that Sanju was a very secure actor. He was never insecure and Raju had given me that freedom.”

This is indeed a testament that Rajkumar Hirani has always been a favorite director of his actors. The way he gives open hands to his actors indeed helps them to boost their character.

Jaya Bachchan looks back at her life on her birthday; says, “When I paused my career to look after my children, I never saw it as a sacrifice”

Jaya Bachchan and I have stayed connected steadfastly for over thirty years now. While my equation with the other Bachchans has changed over the years, with Jaya there has never been an arid patch in our kinship. When we talk, she never has to remind me which parts of the conversation are off the record.

The only three other Filmistan friends I share the same trust and comfort level are Shabana Azmi, Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Jaya and I seldom do formal interviews. But when we do, she remains as candid as she is in our private conversations. The veteran actress turns 76 today.

Once Jaya spoke about giving up her career at her peak. Was it for marriage or motherhood? “Definitely motherhood. You know, I come from a home where my mother was always around. Just her presence gave me a lot of strength. I became the person that I am because of her. Mothers don’t have to teach you anything. Instinctively, a child imbibes values and mannerisms from the mother. From the way you eat to the way you treat people, your mother’s influence is always there, regardless of whether she exercises the influence or not.”

She admitted she was an extremely strict mother. “And it isn’t because my children were susceptible to being spoilt. We never allowed that. We were in a joint family. My children and my brother-in-law’s children grew up together. They played and ate together, went to the same school. They had a normal life. They knew their parents were celebrities… we didn’t hide it from them. But they didn’t know what that celebrity entailed. They were aware that there was public interest in them when they went out. But we made sure they grew up with the celebrity status being a normal state of being. We never had to explain their identity to them. Amit and I have been honoured but never dazzled by our celebrity (status). As a couple we’ve ensured that our children don’t compromise or denigrate it,” she said.

Jaya was careful to give Abhishek and Shweta a normal childhood? “I may be wrong… but I very strongly feel a guardian must be at home constantly. It could be a parent or an aunt or uncle. The presence at home needn’t be gender-driven. When I decided to pause my career to look after my children, I never saw it as a sacrifice. The love, affection and respect that the children give me today are more important to me than any other kind of success in the world. I don’t care what the world thinks as long as the children have faith in me… And doesn’t that apply to all parents? I don’t think I’m an extraordinary mother. I come from a decent middleclass family. I’ve just behaved normally with my children,” she said.

To behave normally in the film industry isn’t a normal thing to do. She disagreed saying, “You’re giving the film industry an unnecessarily abnormal tinge. In fact, the families in our film industry are very normal. I’m not saying the industry is perfect. It just seems more imperfect than other areas of activity because of the constant media attention. I’m fortunate to have come from a decent family. That’s why I could give decent values to my children.”

Jaya’s father Taroon Kumar Bhaduri was an eminent journalist. Speaking of him Jaya said, “He was out making a living for his large family. But I never felt that my father wasn’t around. I never felt the need for anything that I didn’t have. I was very happy with my life. I was very proud of my parents. I hope my children remain that way. I try to be a good daughter. I’m very duty-conscious. And I’ve become even more so after marriage because Amit was very conscious of his duties towards his parents. I’ve, in fact, learnt to be more duty-conscious through my association with the Bachchan family. I’ve lived longer with this family than I’ve with mine. From my own parents, I’ve imbibed goodness and simplicity. God has been very, very kind to me.”

She added, “I hope I’ve given back to my children the values I’ve imbibed from both my families. When they were growing up, I always told my children it didn’t matter how they did in their exams. It’s what they made of themselves as human-beings that mattered. I remember when I was a child, there were always a lot of red marks on the report card in some subjects. But the conduct column was always very good. That made my father very happy. He always said a good strong person has a better chance of survival in this world. I hope I’ve been able to give all these values to my children. The name, fame glamour…it all vanishes. What survives is your goodness.”

Anupama actor Vaquar Shaikh says, “You’re being judged all the time” as he opens up about being a public figure

Vaquar Shaikh, who is currently seen in Anupama, says while there are benefits to being a public figure, there are certain disadvantages too that come with it. Elaborating his points, he said, “The best thing about being a public figure or a celebrity is that most of the time you get your work done in both the public and private sectors very easily. You get treated well, and that’s about it, but it also depends on that celebrity and that public figure, how they behave publicly. If their behavior is humble, then only will they get the advantage of being treated nicely by the public.”

He continued, “But being a celebrity, you’re being judged all the time, what you wear, and how you look. Sometimes I don’t want to do my hair, I don’t want to shave, and I want to live like a normal guy and have chai at a nukkad, but I can’t. Many times people see me and say, ‘Why are you standing here?’ So it gets a little difficult at times, but then that’s part and parcel of being in the public eye and being an actor, where people know you and love you so much.”

Further he opened up about striking a balance between his personal and professional life, and shared, “When I’m at work, I work. And luckily for me and my family, it doesn’t bother me much when I am at work, and similarly, when I am at home, I don’t discuss my work, or carry my professional work or my profession home. So, there are two different worlds that I live in, and they are actually two different people. You see a different Vaquar when I am at work because I am with my colleagues, and there’s a certain way I need to behave, be there, and conduct myself.”

“At home, I’m a father to my kids and a husband to my wife. I try and be honest at both places, so when you’re honest, you don’t have to try anything, you just need to be you, and there’s nothing that you need to hide and there’s nothing that you need to put on, and sometimes you’re expected to do some extra because you’re you, so when you’re you, you don’t need to try. Be as natural and flawless as you can,” he added.

Addressing the gap he had taken in his television career, Vaquar stated, “I started as a model, and I immediately got a lot of campaigns. In television also, very quickly and easily, I got shows one after the other. They were all hit shows. But yes, I did face hardships when I took a break after 7-8 years from television. I didn’t want to work for one and a half years, and getting back was a little difficult. I was not getting the right role. I had to wait. That was the only difficulty I faced.” “Not that I was frustrated, depressed, sad, or upset. But getting the right role was a hardship. It took me 6-7 months to get the right role,” he concluded.

For the unversed, Vaquar Shaikh plays the role of Yashdeep Dhillon and an ally of Anupama in the show. He is the brother of Yashpal and is a retired army officer who is looking after his brother’s restaurant Spice and Chutney in USA.

Rohit Sharma opens up about 2023 World Cup loss on The Great Indian Kapil Show: “I felt the nation might be angry with us. But I only…”

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show featured a heartfelt moment from Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. In a conversation with host Kapil Sharma, Rohit revisited the team’s disappointing loss in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia.

Recalling the lead-up to the match, Rohit described a confident team atmosphere. “Two days before the match, our team was in Ahmedabad and we did our practice. The team had maintained a good momentum. As if the team was on autopilot,” he said. However, he acknowledged Australia’s strong performance, particularly their successful partnership that put pressure on the Indian team.

He said, “We were confident we could achieve a good score. I feel that in big matches, if you are able to score runs and create pressure on the opposite team… because the opposite team has to make runs. But Australia played good cricket.”

Despite the loss, Rohit expressed his surprise and appreciation for the positive response from fans. “I was thinking that the World Cup took place in our country but still we couldn’t win. I felt the nation might be angry with us. But I only heard people praising how well we played, and how they enjoyed watching that cricket,” he revealed. This sentiment was echoed by Archana Puran Singh, who commended the team for their sportsmanship, regardless of the final outcome.

The second episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show aired on Netflix on Saturday. The show marks the return of Kapil Sharma to television after a brief hiatus. The premiere episode featured Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor.

Sobhita Dhulipala on working with Dev Patel on Monkey Man: “There’s certain purity and passion working with a first-time filmmaker”

Sobhita Dhulipala’s transition to Hollywood with Monkey Man is a significant move after her success in Indian films and shows such as Ponniyin Selvan I and II (2022) and Made In Heaven season 1 and 2, Hollywood seemed like an obvious step forward for Sobhita Dhulipala.

In her interview with The New York Times, she delved into her character in the film and shared insights into collaborating with Dev Patel, the multifaceted talent behind the action thriller.

In Monkey Man, she plays Sita, a call girl whose business is the pleasure of powerful but despicable men. Asked what it was like being able to make a career out of playing characters on the margins, like in Monkey Man, Sobhita said, “Those are really beautifully complex humans. To be considered someone who can be trusted with characters like that is really an honour… If something inspires me or there’s some value I can bring to the story, I want to belong with it.”

Sobhita also opened up about how even before the release of her first film in India (Anurag Kashyap’s 2016 movie Raman Raghav 2.0), she auditioned for the role of Sita in Monkey Man. The actor said it took the team several years to get back to her, and in 2019, Dev told her that he had decided that she would be perfect for the role from the moment he saw her audition.

Asked if working with Dev on his directorial debut was a risky move as her first Hollywood film, Sobhita said about their dynamic, “It’s a different kind of relationship altogether. There’s trust, fear, vulnerability, and you move as one pack, one team. There’s a certain purity and passion there — working with a first-time filmmaker. So I came on board, I jumped on board.”

Action thriller Monkey Man follows one man’s pursuit to get revenge for the murder of his mother. Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, the film was produced by Jordan Peele and serves as Dev Patel’s directorial debut.

Monkey Man landed in theaters worldwide on April 5. It is yet to be released in India.

10 Years of Main Tera Hero: When David Dhawan had a SHOCKING health scare: “He said, ‘I am going’ three times. He just passed out. I started shouting, screaming, abusing everyone on the set to get the ambulance. I was hysterical” – Varun Dhawan

The comic caper Main Tera Hero (2014), directed by David Dhawan, completed 10 years on April 4. It is memorable for its chartbuster songs, funny moments, killer dialogues and of course the massy performance by Varun Dhawan. When the film was being shot in Bangkok, Thailand, David Dhawan went through a shocking health scare. Varun opened up about his astonishing and scary experience in an interview with Bombay Times on March 25, 2014.

Varun Dhawan began by saying that even in the past, his father had been unwell and in such times, his mother took care of him. But when Main Tera Hero was being shot in Bangkok, there was no one else from his family apart from him.

He then explained how it all began saying, “He had gone to the gym to see the location when he fell and hurt his throat and knee and was in bad pain, thinking he broke it but nothing happened. We went to the hospital and the doctor told him to sleep. My father said he is fine to me and I assumed that since he said he is fine, means he is fine.”

The shoot began and during lunch time, he saw David Dhawan consuming some tablets. He also saw his assistant Umesh Ghadge rubbing his legs. Varun asked him to sleep and started rubbing his hands. He then said, “He looked at me and said, ‘I am going’ three times and he sank. He just passed out. It happened for 10 seconds and I remember each second of it. Everyone on the set was staring at us and there was not a soul who moved. Everyone thought he had died, including myself.”

Varun Dhawan then revealed, “In my reflex, I put my hand into his mouth, separating his jaw. He immediately puked and came back. It all happened within a few seconds. I started shouting, screaming, abusing everyone on the set to get the ambulance. I was hysterical.”

Even in such a situation, David Dhawan told Varun to go and shoot. Varun narrated, “The shot had been set up and he told me, ‘Go give the shot, the assistant director knows what to do.’ I lost it and nearly broke something in the room. I said, ‘I can’t shoot like this’ but he was adamant and he said, ‘There is money put behind you and you need to shoot.’ I said, ‘I will give the little money I have made, but I cannot shoot.’ But he insisted and I left him to give my shot.”

The shoot took three hours after which Varun Dhawan informed his mother. He broke down during the call; immediately his mother and brother Rohit Dhawan landed in Bangkok.

Varun Dhawan continued, “He had had what you call a diabetic coma and it happens when your blood sugar goes low and his heart showed signs of irregularity. The doctors later told me that he was choking so when he vomited, he became okay. He was in the hospital for just one night and reached the set at 12 the next day.” He exulted, “He is obsessed with filmmaking, but I don’t wish for any child to see this happening to their father.”

Varun since then has been extra cautious about the health of his parents. This was seen during the COVID-19 pandemic period. In an interview with Bombay Times in January 2022, he said, “The biggest challenge these days is to parent your parents, be hawk-eyed towards them like they were when you were a child. These times are tough on us, but they’re tougher on our elders. I want to get on to a platform and tell all elderly parents that they have to listen to their children when they talk about safety measures and follow them.”

In June 2022, David Dhawan opened up about how Varun and his family have made sure that he has a healthy diet, “He (Varun) is after my life. My wife and kids don’t let me eat anything wrong. If I try to do so, they will hit my hand and say it’s not for me. They have really taken care of me.”

Ed Sheeran confesses watching Shah Rukh Khan films on flights, confirms appearance on Kapil Sharma’s Netflix Show

Global music sensation Ed Sheeran recently wrapped up the Indian leg of his +-=/x Tour, leaving fans with unforgettable memories. Sheeran documented his Mumbai adventures in a YouTube vlog, revealing some surprising discoveries for his Indian audience.

While enjoying local street food (chaat) with cricketer Shubman Gill and comedian Tanmay Bhat, Ed confessed his fondness for Shah Rukh Khan movies. During his frequent travels, he admitted to catching Bollywood flicks, particularly Shah Rukh Khan’s films. “There’s always a Bollywood section on flights,” he explained, revealing he’s seen “quite a few” of SRK films.

The conversation took an exciting turn when Shubman Gill, a former player for Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, jokingly asked Ed to inquire about his release from the team during their upcoming dinner. This confirmed Ed’s meeting with the Bollywood superstar, further fuelling fan anticipation.

But the biggest reveal came when Gill mentioned comedian Kapil Sharma. Ed’s face lit up, and he announced, “I am doing that show.” This confirms Ed Sheeran’s appearance on Kapil Sharma’s highly anticipated Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Ed’s video comes a couple of weeks after he dedicated a post to the King of Bollywood. The musician is seen learning the signature pose of Shah Rukh Khan in a video. He posted it on his Instagram handle along with a caption that read, “This is the Shape of Us. Spreading love together….” Farah Khan also dropped a comment indicating that she directed the clip as she added, “If this was the last thing I directed i ll die happy”.

The intimate wedding between Taapsee and long-time beau Mathias Boe took place in Udaipur on March 22. Adds the source, “Taapsee’s Danish wedding outfit was designed by Lasse Spangenberg, a Danish designer based in Denmark and who has earlier worked on outfits for the Danish royalty. Her Indian wedding outfit was designed by Mani Bhatia and the actress looked like a dream as she was all smiles throughout the ceremonies.”

Taapsee’s wedding was orchestrated by a team of renowned professionals who diligently ensured that the day unfolded seamlessly according to plan. The source further mentions, “The wedding was planned by Weddingwale, with décor by The Wedding Factory. The ceremony took place at Mementos by ITC Hotels, Ekaaya Udaipur. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the celebration with entertainment by DJ Ganesh, Abhilash Thapliyal, and Delraaz Bunshah and Band. While the official wedding glimpses have not made their way on social media, the photos and videos were worked on by Khamkha Photo Artist and Singh Photos respectively.”

The source continued, “The performances at the wedding were choreographed by Anusha Wedding Choreography. Guests were enjoying the hospitality and the delicious cocktails served by The Bartender House. FWICE proposes Ashoke Pandit’s name as a candidate for Lok Sabha Elections from Mumbai’s North West constituency

The FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has proposed the name of its Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit for the candidature of Member of Parliament (MP) for the North West Constituency in the upcoming General Elections. President of FWICE BN Tiwari has made the request through a letter written to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while listing down the involvement of Pandit in various causes not just limited to the film industry.

An excerpt from the letter read, “We have very closely seen Panditji working dedicatedly and consistently not only as a member of the Entertainment Industry but a fellow citizen who has always been involved in social and public service. It is very rare to find a man who selflessly works for the larger good of the people. Our whole idea of writing and endorsing his name for the upcoming election is because, majority of film industry employees stay in this very constituency and as a resident of this constituency we have personally experienced his relentless contribution to social and public causes.”

The letter also highlights Pandit’s efforts for the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits who faced exodus from the valley in the 1990s. For the unversed, Pandit himself also hails from that community. “It was he who knocked the doors of Balasaheb (Thackeray) and Shiv Sena in the early 90’s asking for his help and support to the refugee Pandits in Maharashtra. It was his efforts that Pandit refugee kids had reserved seat in educational institutes of Maharashtra,” said the letter.

The letter also says that Pandit has also fought for the cause of green spaces in the locality and that nobody has gone empty-handed after meeting him. It also highlighted his efforts for the common man during the COVID-19 pandemic. “The lower rung of workers who form the crux of the industry were in dire strait. From facilitating medical help, to collecting funds for regular ration distribution or being heavily instrumental for the mass vaccination drive, he worked in tandem with the Federation and saw to it that vaccination was provided free of cost to the technicians and workers of the industry. This kind of a humungous task is no child’s play and it requires a heart of gold and an attitude of leadership, which this gentleman is bestowed with.”

The letter added, “A true nationalist and an ardent Mumbaikar at heart is a standing testimony how a man in public life should be. Having him as a representative will be a matter of confidence for the residents of this constituency, because he is a man of masses and the connectivity with the common man is a thing known to everyone.”

Ashoke Pandit has been a vocal supporter of the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and has appeared in numerous TV news debates while defending the party and its governance.
