Fahadh Faasil’s Bollywood Debut?

Rumors have been circulating about Fahadh Faasil making his Bollywood debut with this Netflix original. Known for his exceptional performances in Malayalam cinema and recent Pan-India hits like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Aavesham, Fahadh is said to be in advanced talks with Imtiaz Ali.

A report by Pinkvilla quotes a source close to the development saying, “It’s a quirky title, as Imtiaz Ali is switching genre from intense romance to a slice-of-life romantic comedy.  The story demands a title like Idiots of Istanbul, as the two key characters are on a journey to the largest city of Turkey. The character trait also warrants the casting of a powerhouse of talent like Fahadh Faasil, and the actor is also excited to embark on a ride with Imtiaz Ali and team.”

The project is expected to begin production in early 2025, with a tight three-month shooting schedule. Pre-production work has already started, and Imtiaz Ali is reportedly fine-tuning the script while completing location scouting. While fans eagerly await official confirmation, the buzz surrounding Idiots of Istanbul only adds to the anticipation for Imtiaz Ali’s next creative venture.

Speaking of the professional front, as mentioned above, Fahadh is currently seen in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. Meanwhile, Triptii’s last big screen project was Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. She has an exciting lineup including a Vishal Bhardwaj film, headlined by Shahid Kapoor.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga responds to Javed Akhtar’s criticism of Animal; says, “If Javed ji wasn’t a lyricist or story writer…”

In this weekend’s episode of Indian Idol Season 15, the show will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Animal with its director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, joining the special segment. During the episode, Vanga will address Javed Akhtar’s criticism of the film, taking a dig at the veteran lyricist.

The debate on Indian Idol Season 15 kicked off when contestant Myscmme Bosu praised Animal and shared that she had watched it three times. This sparked a disagreement with fellow contestant Manasi, who took issue with certain scenes in the film. Myscmee expressed frustration, saying, “I’ve tried to convince her about how Animal makes sense, but she’s not convinced. I want Sandeep sir to explain it to her.”

During the Indian Idol Season 15 episode, the discussion took an intense turn when Manasi expressed her concerns about a controversial scene. She said, “There’s this scene with ‘mera joota chaato,’ and I personally have a problem with it.”

Sandeep was visibly taken a back when he said, “You have a problem with the joota chato scene, but no problem with the hero killing 300 people?” To this, Manasi responded by saying, “Yes, there is a problem.”

The conversation on Indian Idol took a heated turn when Manasi brought up Javed Akhtar’s criticism of Animal. “Javed Akhtar said it’s dangerous for society, and I agree with him,” she stated. Sandeep responded, “If Javed ji wasn’t a lyricist or story writer, I’d take his words seriously.”

Earlier in the year, Javed Akhtar had spoken about his criticism of Animal in an interview with Barkha Dutt and said, “I didn’t express my opinion on Animal, I spoke about the audience that watched it. If 15 people have made a film with the wrong values, if 10-12 people make obscene songs, that’s not the problem. If 15 people are perverts among the 140 crore population, it doesn’t matter. When that thing goes on the market and becomes a superhit, that’s the problem.”

Animal, released in December 2023, explores the dynamics between a man, Ranvijay (played by Ranbir Kapoor), and his emotionally distant father (played by Anil Kapoor). As an anti-hero, Vijay goes to extreme lengths to protect his father, even resorting to mass violence, including gunning down around 200 people with a machine gun. Despite his brutal actions, he remains unacknowledged by his father, reflecting the film’s central theme of emotional dysfunction and familial expectations.

While Animal was a box office success, grossing over Rs 900 crores, it also sparked significant controversy. Critics and audiences alike labelled the film as toxic and misogynistic, citing its problematic portrayal of violence and relationships. Despite the criticism, the film’s commercial success indicates a strong connection with its audience, even amidst the debate surrounding its content.

Starting today, Saturday morning, these round-the-clock shows will continue without a break until Monday morning – an achievement that may have never been attempted before in the history of film exhibition.

Known for his magnetic screen presence, iconic swagger, and unparalleled dance moves, Arjun has become the heart and soul of the franchise, with fans across India eagerly awaiting his return to the big screen.

The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Srivalli, Pushpa’s love interest, bringing emotional depth and charm to the narrative. Fahadh Faasil, who made a memorable entry as the menacing antagonist SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in the first part, is expected to raise the stakes further in the sequel. Directed by the visionary Sukumar, Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 promises a riveting mix of high-octane action, gripping storytelling, and chart-topping music composed by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP).

The film has already shattered records with its advance bookings, and Inox Raj Imperial’s decision to dedicate all six of its screens for continuous screenings is a testament to the unprecedented demand. Industry insiders predict a thunderous opening weekend, with packed theaters across the country and enthusiastic audiences cheering for their favorite hero.

It’s not just the sheer volume of screenings that’s impressive – it’s the atmosphere the film has created. Fans are already quoting dialogues, recreating Pushpa’s signature mannerisms, and humming DSP’s chartbusters even before stepping into the theaters. This cultural phenomenon has transcended languages and regions, cementing Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 as a truly pan-Indian spectacle.

As Allu Arjun’s character famously declares in the sequel (Hindi dubbed), “Pushpa naam sunke flower samjhe kya? Fire hai main!” That fire is now spreading far and wide, igniting a wildfire of excitement that is blazing across the country and beyond. With such a roaring start, Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 is set to rewrite the rules of the box office and deliver an experience audiences won’t forget anytime soon.

Under the sparkling December sky, the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai transformed into a sea of lights, music and electrifying energy as American pop band Maroon 5 made their much-anticipated India debut. Produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, the Tuesday evening show was nothing short of magical, cementing a historic moment for Indian fans of the global pop-rock icons. The concert was a spectacular celebration of the band’s iconic hits, drawing fans from across the country for an unforgettable evening.

Maroon 5 lights up Mumbai with electrifying debut at Mahalaxmi Racecourse; Aakash Ambani, Shloka Ambani, Radhika Ambani and others cheer

The iconic Los Angeles-based band, known for their infectious blend of pop, rock and funk, took the stage amidst thunderous applause, delivering a powerhouse performance that spanned their three-decade-long career. From the very first track to the grand finale, the evening was a sonic and visual feast that showcased why Maroon 5 is one of the most enduring and successful bands of the 21st century. The band’s stellar line-up, including frontman Adam Levine, lead guitarist James Valentine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Sam Farrar, keyboardist PJ Morton and drummer Matt Flynn, demonstrated their unmatched synergy and artistry, leaving fans spellbound.

The evening began on a high note with Zaeden delivering an electrifying opening act, followed by DJ Mailbox, who kept the energy soaring with his dynamic beats, perfectly warming up the crowd before Maroon 5 set the stage on fire. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the venue pulsated with anticipation, a sea of fans chanting lyrics in unison even before the band took the stage. The air was charged, the excitement palpable. And then, it began – a sensory explosion of lights, music and pure energy as Adam Levine’s unmistakable voice soared through the opening beats of ‘Animals’. The crowd erupted, their cheers echoing across the venue, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. As the band transitioned into ‘One More Night’ and ‘This Love’, their signature mix of sultry vocals, infectious melodies and pulsating rhythms had fans singing in perfect harmony.

“All I can tell you guys is, we’re sorry we’re late but we made it and that’s what’s important! We’re just so happy to be happy with you guys.” Adam Levine said, drawing deafening applause.

Midway through the show, ‘Stereo Hearts’ struck a nostalgic chord, its beats weaving seamlessly into ‘Harder’, ‘Lucky Strike’ and ‘Sunday Morning’. The stage came alive with dazzling visual spectacle, complementing Maroon 5’s masterful storytelling through music. Levine commanded the stage with his trademark charisma, effortlessly navigating from the falsettos of ‘Payphone’ to the sultry charm of ‘What Lovers Do’, the infectious energy of ‘Makes Me Wonder’, the enchanting tones of ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’, the raw intensity of ‘Heavy’ and the anthemic beats of ‘Maps’. Between songs, Levine paused to connect with the audience, expressing his awe at the warmth and energy of the Indian crowd.

A heartfelt moment arrived as Levine introduced ‘Memories’, dedicating it to those we hold close yet far away. Phone lights swayed across the crowd like stars, creating an ethereal atmosphere that lingered long after the song ended.

The poignant vibe continued with the reflective tones of ‘Don’t Wanna Know’ and the tender emotions of ‘Love Somebody’. As the tempo picked up, ‘Moves Like Jagger’ turned the racecourse into a dance floor. Fans couldn’t resist moving along to the groovy beats, with Levine’s playful energy on full display. And just when it seemed the night couldn’t get any better, the band delivered an encore that was a perfect trifecta: the soulful and tender ode to love ‘She Will Be Loved’, the empowering ‘Girls Like You’ and the sugar-sweet highs of ‘Sugar’, with the crowd erupting in applause as the fireworks lit up the Mumbai sky. A truly heartfelt moment unfolded when Adam Levine invited a fan from the audience onto the stage – a young woman who had brought him a beautiful bouquet of flowers. With his signature warmth, Levine graciously accepted the bouquet and gave her a heartfelt hug before breaking into the iconic ‘She Will Be Loved’, singing directly to her with undeniable sincerity. The lucky fan, Suman, was overwhelmed by the experience, tears streaming down her face as she said, “I want to thank you so much! You and your songs have been the journey of my life”. Adam Levine ended the memorable evening with a heartfelt promise to be back again sooner than we know!

Maroon 5’s setlist took fans on a journey through their storied career, highlighting their evolution from their debut album Songs About Jane to their latest hits. The band’s unique ability to seamlessly blend heartfelt ballads, upbeat anthems and dance-worthy tracks was on full display.

The synergy between the band and their fans was palpable – an electric connection forged through lyrics, beats and shared love for music. It was more than a concert; it was a celebration of Maroon 5’s journey and a testament to the power of music to unite people across cultures. From start to finish, Maroon 5 delivered a show that will remain etched in the hearts of Indian fans.

With BookMyShow Live orchestrating this extraordinary debut, the evening not only set a benchmark for live entertainment in India but also fulfilled a long-cherished dream for music lovers across the country.  BookMyShow Live once again proved its mettle in bringing world-class entertainment to Indian shores, ensuring that every detail of the production – from the immersive sound design to the seamless event execution – was nothing short of perfection.

Spotted cheering amongst the crowds were Aakash Ambani, Shloka Ambani, Radhika Ambani, Shaan and Kayan. Fans holding banners and chanting lyrics created an electrifying atmosphere.

Until next time, Mumbai will remember the night when Maroon 5 painted the town red and maroon with their unforgettable melodies and boundless charisma. For those who were there, it was a dream come true. For those who missed it, the echoes of ‘Sugar’ will linger as a reminder that India has truly arrived on the global live entertainment stage.

Allu Arjun reveals how he said ‘I will never do a Hindi film’ to Rockstar DSP

Allu Arjun created a record after becoming the first Telugu actor to have bagged the National Film Award for his performance in Pushpa: The Rise. As he was asked about doing a Bollywood debut, the actor revealed a conversation he had with Rockstar DSP, wherein he told the latter that it was easier for him to bag a Hindi film as a music director. “We both come from Chennai. I used to tell him it is very difficult for me to do a Hindi film, but as a music director, it is easy for him to do a Hindi film. I would ask him why he doesn’t do it. He would respond, ‘No, and why don’t you do a Hindi film and along with you, I will also do a Hindi film.’ I said I will never do a Hindi film because at that time it was extremely hard to do a Hindi film,” Allu Arjun confessed.

He went on to add, “Doing a Hindi film was such a huge thing. Maybe in our lifetime, we will do one or two Hindi films. It was that far away for us to do Hindi films. From that mindset to coming to this stage and standing here is a very big thing for me. We both won National Awards and gave a national superhit album for the same film. It is the most precious thing ever to happen for us.”

Coming to the film Pushpa 2: The Rule, the film also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, is slated to release on December 5 in multiple, languages including Hindi.
